I used to take my son for swimming lessons, and we'd definitely feel more tired on the days he had his evening lessons. But it was a good tired, the kind you feel when you've really stretched your muscles and your body is totally relaxed. If you are doing your swim time in the evenings, why not take advantage of that relaxation and make them early-to-bed nights for everyone? In this day and age with our busy schedules, we can all use a little extra sleep no matter how much sleep we typically get a night. If the issue is that your kids have homework or you have other obligations, you might see if your kids can do their work on those days immediately when they get home from school, or get them up a little bit earlier the next morning so they can work on it. Just plan on a simple and quick dinner for that night, and then it's off to bed for everyone. Swimming is a great exercise and a wonderful activity for your family; don't feel bad that you aren't getting the laundry or the dishes done on those nights, especially if it's just one or two nights a week. Hope this helps and good luck to you and your family!

swimming is strenous excersize. you push thru the water and pull back thru it. Its got double resistance-so its like excersizing twice-swimming is great for you.

Try eating meals with some complex carbs, whole wheat pastas (with some veggies and protien) they burn off slower-and help you maintain your strength and energy.
