If I put 1 on my W4 for exempt ions, do i claim myself on line 5 ( 1040EZ ) were it has a "you" box ?

I am single and no one else to claim, and nobody can claim me, do I claim myself as a dependant ?

If no one can claim you, You would not check the you box, You would take the amount of $8,450 as you standard deduction and exemption amount

What you claim on your W-4 does not affect your actual return - the W-4 just controls how much tax is withheld. On the actual return you show what you actually are entitled to.

Checking the YOU box on line 5 of your 1040EZ says that you CAN BE claimed as a dependent by someone else. If you can't, then you don't check any boxes there, and you put 8450 on that line to the right.

You dont claim yourself as a dependent but you do take the personal exemption on the 1040EZ form. The 1040EZ does not have a place to list dependents so you just claim one for yourself.

the W-4 form does not have rules or regulations that must be met when the taxpayer fills out the form; it is used as merely a guideline to determine an estimate of what you need to enter so that taxes withheld equals taxes payable at the end of the year; you can enter as many allowances as you want on the W-4 worksheet and it is not a legal detriment; the more allowances you enter on W-4, the more money will be withheld from your pay; a lot of deadbeat fathers enter 0 on their W-4 knowing that the IRS will keep all of their tax refund for past due child support(they love their kids though, right?)

Your best bet is to claim 0. They take out more taxes from your check but your return will be hiring and less risk of owing taxes.
