He is swelling in his stomach area and was very tender on his sides and didn't want to be touched. His poop is hard. I gave him a laxative and his stools has somewhat improved. He is a Chinese Pug.

You can try to use pumpkin (like the kind you would get at the store for making pie). Add a little to his food once or twice a day to see if that helps.

More importantly, you should have his stool checked by a vet. They could determine what could be causing the constipation. He could have worms, or a bacteria overgrowth that causing the stomach swelling and tenderness.

Please, even if you don't take your dog to physically see the net, have them check his stool. You don't want him getting really sick because of this.

Good luck!

flaxseed oil is better for him than a general laxative. If he is that backed up, your best bet is to get him to a vet, there may be something worse going on.

I would take him to the vet first and foremost. Don't wait to long on this.

If you refuse or cannot afford that, consider changing his diet, to a moister dog food, and adding some oil to it.

my aunt has an 18 year old cat who sometimes gets constipated and all she does is puts a teaspoon of olive oil in her food and that usually helps.

good luck.
