Don't eat raw eggs. There are two reasons.

First, raw eggs can be infected with salmonella. A person infected with the Salmonella enteritidis bacterium usually has fever, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea beginning 12 to 72 hours after consuming a contaminated food or beverage. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days, and most persons recover without antibiotic treatment. However, the diarrhea can be severe, and the person may be ill enough to require hospitalization. In the elderly, very young or people with weak immune systems, salmonella can be fatal.

The second reason has to do with how raw eggs are digested in the body. Raw egg whites contain a protein called avidin that blocks the body's ability to absorb a key B-vitamin, Biotin. Once you cook the egg, the avidin is broken down and the biotin becomes available. Excessive consumption of raw eggs can cause a biotin deficiency.

There is no consistent, overriding evidence that raw egg proteins are more easily absorbed or used by the body than cooked eggs. Eat them cooked and you'll still get the great protein benefits without the health risks.

Instance of salmonella in organic PASTURE RAISED EGGS is like 1 in 100,000+ and if ur paying attention u can detect a bad egg. Raw is best cause u don't destroy the enzymes + vit/min and change the chemical composition. Raw eggs are easier to digest/assimilate just like raw milk, saw fish and yes even raw organic grass fed beef. Animals in the wild don't cook/pasteurize their foods and are pretty healthy.

Salmonella. The percent of eggs effected are like 1 in 30,000 though, but you could get that if you are eating raw eggs.

Yes, chief among them being the possibility of salmonella poisoning. Eating raw eggs to bulk up (popularized by Rocky) is not a good idea at all.
