The maximum weight allowed in a single item is 32kg as set out by the HSE for manual lifting. The airline will state this if you ask them.//The hse set this limit for baggage handlers as they repetitively lift hand luggage on and off baggage carts! As a h&s rep then somebody on here needs a refresher!Halox

Rubber Duckie is right..... Check with whatever airline you're traveling on because the allowences are set by each carrier unless there is a governmental restriction.
And if you have too many bags or they weight too much be prepared to pay a good deal of money for the excess.
(And for God's sake do not EVER put your keys, your life saving medicine, or you're priceless family heirloom in a checked bag.)

just take 2 suitcases ! it will be easier lifting for the people that have to handle the baggage! and if you divert clothing from the both of you in 2 cases the less of a chance you have for lost baggage and no clothing!

its anything from 20 - 32kg per person...but it all depends on the airline. even if you dont meet your weight quota..why dont you take two suitcases? - shopping in turkey is fantastic...you might want to bring lots of goodies back and you will need the extra case!

You can only put the equivelent of 1 persons limit into it as you have to remember the baggage handler has to lift it. This is the main reason on this restriction. If you want more you need another suitcase.
PS The HSE do not set a limit in kg's. Everyone is different is their point of view. You lift what you can comfortably.

I'm doing travel at college and it all depends on what airline you're travelling with and what class of the plane you're in. I think it's 20 kg for economy, 30 kg for business class, and 40 kg for first. These are all per person.
