I live in East Texas and there isn't any where to go take Driver's Ed. here. We (the parents) have to teach an at-home course to our kids. It's called "Parent Taught Driver Education Program". You send the D.P.S. 20.00 and they send you a packet containing everything you need to teach the D.E. course. I would rather it be taught in the schools like it was when I grew up, but what you gonna do? Any way, no you don't have to take it in the same town that you live in. I pretty sure it just has to be in the same state. Good luck!

It's not part of the public school curriculum in NY. anymore. It's a shame because young people are forced to be taught by their parents who aren't the best instructors in the world. There are opportunities to learn through professional driving schools but people will not spend money if it's not required. My advice: Grab it when ever you can.

As long as you get a certificate of completion satisfactory to the powers that be in your state, you can take it anywhere you please.
