We live in Canada as permanent residents. My dad was wondering if he can apply for visas when he has 2 years left till the expiration date. The rest of my family members are close to being expired(mar 11,2007) so we have to do it soon anyway. So we booked an appointment with US embassy in about 2 weeks(end of Feb).

Is it possible to get your visa renewed even if it is not fully expired?

Yes, of course you can renew your visas long before they expire. And making sure your family's visas all expire at the same time is a wonderful idea that isn't practiced often enough. Just bring all the old ones along to be cancelled as you get the new ones.

no , a visa is just like any other documents provided by the government where you reside .........just like a driving license ,,job license .......it has to expire first ..it makes sense ? why renew something that has not expired ? ...........
you may never get all of the family visas renewed at the same time ..........but does it matter that much ? as long as you stay all together .:-)
