Rapid weight gain and loss are not neccesarily good things. Your weight should be about the same. B16 (vitamin found at any drug store in US, not sure overseas though...) will help regulate weight fluctuations.

It's all about the altitude. Switzerland is higher above sea level. Whenever you go back to the states you're closer to the ground. A good comparison to this is when it's foggy out. Fog tends to stay in one place, not moving much and accumulating when in a Valley, but the higher up you go, the fog dissappears. So basically being closer to the ground allows fat to accumulate faster because you're more like in the Valley, when in the states. Then you go back and your body has room to breathe and stretch, giving you the room allows you to lose the weight.

Hey! This happened to my mom, too - it was because we moved to a little village, though, and she had to walk home carrying the groceries every day. She said she loved how effortless it was to be skinny in Switzerland, how she misses that - and she got really strong arms, too! :)

Ugh - part of it though - she really lost a LOT of weight when she came down with rheumatic fever. That wasn't good.

Man, I miss Switzerland - hope you're having fun!

Well, Switzerland is a healthy country. And the food portions are considerably smaller than in the US - plus there is less fat in the food.

Greetings from healthy Switzerland

(but also here, more and more people suffer under their weight!!)

I think it's probably the gravitational pull, it's different everywhere but usually not by much. There are some places though that have really strange effects where gravity is like the opposite, cars fall up hills but not down, etc. There's a couple places like that in the US. Your weight is the gravitational pull of your body to the earth

Sounds like a blessing in disguise . . . I'd stay in Switzerland!
Seriously - I think you're not noticing the difference in your activity level, eating habits, that sort of thing.

Do you lose it as soon as you get to Switzerland or do you lose it within a few days. . . it may just be the food you're eating!

my hypothesis about this, is that when it's warmer, you'd lose pounds, and when it's cooler you gain for some reason, i know how you feel, it happened to me in the past.
