how do i stop my self from becoming deaf????

i have my i- shuffle which i love alot and am most of the time listening to it. but i want to know how much is the maximum volume i can keep it on coz i know too much will make me deaf.

Why do those kid get worse hearing?
They listen to their ipods on maximum volume for long periods of time. It will happen if you blast your radio too, just not as quickly. The ipod headphones reach into the inner part of your ear and are near your ear drum, which is why the kids lose their hearing.

Does this mean you can't keep your ipod?
no. Just listen to it on about medium or 3/4 volume. If your ears start to hurt, take out the earphones and take a break.

while you can research what settings give out what levels of volume, then research what is a safe level,,,, i suggest that you keep it low enough that you could hear a phone ring, or someone knock on your door,,,,,,, also,,, make sure and notice if your ears feel odd after wards, or if you have difficulty hearing normal sounds,,, after having listened for a while to your i-shuffle,,,,,,

You are right. Turn it down. I am 60% deaf in one ear and 45% in the other and it is NO fun. Hearing aides will not help the situation in my case.

Keep it low enough it doesn't make your ears hurt. You decide how high it needs to be. It's easy to tell. Just make it high enough you can hear it but don't make it too loud.
