Just do it. It's going to hurt, but so is staying, right? If you're worried about your determination, don't. If you make sure that the break up is hurtful enough for him, it won't even be an issue about whether you can keep your resolve, and stay away. He'll most likely not want anything to do with you, and if he does, you didn't make it hurtful enough. The best way to deal with waffling is to eliminate all the other options.

It is always hard to let go of someone that is very close to us but if you said that it is the right hting then I think that you should. I know someone who has gone through this and they lived. Hey we always like the things that are bad for us and we hate choosing the right way at first then you get use to it and find yourself liking it. Its like dieting you hate starting then you start and its okay and you loose those extra pounds.
Look all you have to do to pass time is to hang out with friends that would be interested in what you are interested in. Do fun things and time would pass but just be sure to stay away from him because he could do things that you like seeing that he knows you so well and you guys could be back together. Just remember that feeling pity for someone shouldn't mean that you have to get back with them. Keep him as a friend after some time and if he allows it if he doesn't then to hell with him.

Listen breaking up hurts very much but what doesn't kill u makes you stronger. First thing you need to do after you guys break up is totally lose connection with him for a while. Time heals everything. If you see or speak to him after breaking up then you will want to get back with him and second guess your decision. Second thing is keep reminding yourself it's for the better. obviously your not that happy being with him. u deserve better and he will come in time. Think you won't find mr. right if you stick around with him.

If you have decided that you two are not going to be a couple then, in your mind, the breakup has already occurred. So, just tell him...and get on with life.
