in the span of twelve hours, what do you think will happen to the tone of my questions?
It's true, after reading a ridiculous number of stupid statements last night about evolution, the big bang and abiogenesis, I realized that belief in God is at times characterized by complete ignorance of reality.
When I woke up this morning I began analyzing my own view of the universe and discovered that those things that made me most likely to hold the opinion that a god exists are the things I understand the least academically. Based on past experiences, I have reason to believe that if I understood them better in an academic sense, I would probably flush the notion of god.
So my opinion has flipped from a 55/45 opinion that there probably is a god to something like 75/25 that there probably isn't and that most likely, some other explanation for existence will be found.
Ironically, this morning was the day the 'Report Abuse for Jesus' crowd finally had my account waxed.

Dog Sneeze,
You bring up a good point and my intent is not to say that every single religious person is ignorant or uneducated. But it did prompt me to realize that the only thing holding me back from embracing atheism is my own ignorance.

No it has nothing to do with fundie views,it just made me revisit my own opinions. I was raised Christian and feel nothing compelling about it or any other religion. I had (and still slightly have) a notion of god that is merely one of gaps. I long ago gave up on the idea that there is a god who has ever interjected himself into the universe. I was of the opinion, however, that cosmogenesis was guided by a higher power. But I think i just need to learn more about it.
