One of things that really bothers me about illegals, is that my taxes go towards health care, education, etc for those that are not here legally and not paying into taxes. Also, no SS= no support after retirement (or at least, only what they paid in if any) My solution is that there should be some sort of option box on tax returns for those that want to support these items could pay extra taxes and those of us that do not, would get a break. Once the fund was gone, the same supporters could be called upon to give more to help. A win-win-win situation. The illegls stay (providing they have never been/are not currently criminals), the people that support illegal immigration get a chance to step up and put their money where there mouth is, and those of us that do not want to pay all of the extra costs associated with those that are not paying their way, do not have to. What do you think?

Excellent idea. I have proposed exactly that on many occasions. Great minds think alike.

The bleeding heart liberals that cannot see past the "they are just looking for a better life" rhetoric would get a chance to step up to the plate.

I have found that most liberals are unwilling to put their money where their mouth is. As long as they can sit in the comfort of their homes, in their gated communities and no one asks them to give up anything they will lend their voice to what they consider to be a just cause...but that is all they are willing to give.

Unfortunately these people are also sadly misinformed. They don't even bother to research the facts but instead rely on what they hear from the liberal press.

The classic example is a friend of my cousin who lives in the SFO area. My cousin was considered unfeeling and uncaring for voting for prop 187 (A Calif bill that would have denied access to schools and social services to illegals). The other day her friend was rear ended by an illegal driving a unlicensed vehicle. Her car was destroyed, she suffered whiplash, and the illegal simply abandoned the car and ran away.
Now she is outraged because her insurance agent and the investigating officer told her it happens all the time and wonders why something hasn't been done to stop this.

Duh

Problem is, once you come here illegally...you already ARE a criminal. You break the law the second you step on US soil. In case you never noticed, we're the only country on the planet that tolerates this. The solution isn't more new laws and legislation costing millions+ of taxpayer dollars, we simply need to ENFORCE the laws currently in place. I'm all for immigration, so long as it's done legally. Sure, nobody likes filling out forms and waiting for months, but it's the same method everybody else has used before you. If you scurried across the border in the middle of the night, you're a fugitive the day you got here. Since your not a US citizen, you don't have any rights as one.

So you propose a tax of choice. If I support illegal immigration, I can pay taxes on behalf of illegal immigrants. If I am against illegal immigration, I would not have to pay these taxes.

That is a wonderful idea! In fact, I think this concept should be applied to more than just illegal immigration. Instead of the government collecting our taxes and spending as they choose, we should be allowed to specify where these funds go.

We could decide not to pay taxes for public education if we have no children and do not care about the education of our next generation. We could decide not to pay taxes that support a war with which we disagree. We could decide not to pay taxes that fund unemployment.

That would put responsibility on the government to convince the people to financially support whatever it wishes to fund. It would put control and power in the hands of the people... a true democracy!

Personally, I would like for more of my tax money to go to national security and less of this money to go to social services.

I don't think it would ever fly. It's kind of like the iraq war, if everyone had a chance to decide on spending for it.The funds would be so low they couldn't afford to fight it.I agree with what you're saying about the illegals, it once again comes down to big business and the harm they're doing legal Americans by using these illegals.I think it should be a huge fine for being illegal, second offense bigger etc.For those with not enough money to pay the fine, ship them back at Mexico's expense,or,put them to work building the wall along the border as in community service!Let them build the wall, supervised by the u.s..

The best solution is to start fining and/or imprisoning employers who hire illegals. Dry up the job market and that removes some of the incentive to be here. Then start raiding and deporting illegals. One bus load at a time. I would VOLUNTEER to drive.
Gotta disagree with you sentence "illegals stay providing they have never been/are not currently criminals." By coming here illegally, they are automatically criminals. They broke the law.

We are paying for these issues because our country employs them and does not give them the right to pay for health insurance and/or file for taxed. But, taxes they do pay. Our government pockets billions of unclaimed tax dollars that is taken out of illegals paychecks. So, if they are good enough to employ, but not good enough to become legal? that is their fustration, while they pick our food from the fields or care for our kids and homes, they are treated badly. They want to pay taxes and obtain health insurance, but they can't. Illegals are in limbo in this country, because they obviously are needed, but by some, not wanted. So, complain to your state government to do something about it. If our government would just turn that money it takes from illegals' taxes and gave it to hospitals and schools, we would not have a problem, I guarantee it. But it does not benefit our government to do that, or grant illegals some rights, or deport them. It's all about the money and votes, unfortunately.

It would make more sense confiscating the illegals property like with drug dealers. After all all that money was made during a criminal act. Use that money to fund the real; war. The war on illegal immigration.

Deport, deport, deport. Most of the illegal aliens are from Mexico, Bush worked out a sweetheart deal to basically let half of Mexico move in, but what they really need is infrastructure, and the longer they hang out in our country, the longer it'll be until it all gets built...so, send em home.

A better solution would be to stop illegal immigration and give the illegals here (no criminal history) an opportunity for citizenship. The government could assess fines and back taxes that can be paid over time.

Deportation. The only solution.
