if you are wanting to go with a pre-packaged curriculum check out
www.k12.com
you can see the materials there, they're pretty impressive, and
you can get the whole program free through California Virtual Academy.

Go to
http://www.hsc.org/

This site has the information you will need to home-school in California.

I have home-schooled my children (3) and grandchildren (2) for most of their school years. It is a tough job. A few things you might want to consider are:
Do you and your child have a good relationship? Are you good at discipline? Does your child listen to you when you explain things. Do you enjoy teaching?
Can you and your child have fun doing the little things together?

Remember homeschooling is a full-time job. It isn't something that you start and then quit. You have to devote a lot of time and effort to it so I hope you or your husband don't mind when the laundry doesn't get done or there are dirty dishes in the sink at night. If these things don't bother you than go for it because you will never get another chance to have a relationship with your child as close as this will be.

I have been homeschooling 3 of my children for 3 years now. I started with one child, by faith and I brought home each child. One by one. I would never go back. Their character is wonderful.
It takes work. But if you can handle doing one on one homework, and see your self doing this daily, then you can do this. Keep attendance records, this is a must. Work for at least 5 hours a day, this is law in CA. Each child is different. Some can handle pretty much working straight through this time. Some need more breaks.

Oh my goodness- I MUST say, I have tried to try to put together lessons....I can not do this well. It is hard. BUT I HAVE FOUND PACES. THese are GREATTTTT!!! OHHHH headaches are gone! Stress is wayyyyyyy out of the door....I want to give you websites...these are very helpful. I am a single mom of four, and homeschooling is possible to most anyone. You must know how to jump in and work and stay focused. AND BREAK away when you need to...have snack time, go to the park, change the study scene a bit, go to the library...etc. I get comments all the time about my children. Homeschooled children are usually well behaved, and well educated because of so much one on one time. But they also learn to work alone.
They become very mature, very independant. My 13 year old is very very mature. I cant go backwards...no more public school. I an thanking God. Oh! I MUST say this too- When you feel as if you need help these umbrella schools are great!!
ANOTHER GREAT TIP: Highschool students need to do Community Service in order to complete school, SO these children may be of great help on the subjects that you may be a little rusty on. Post a note at a highschool, etc. Be wise in your choosing a student, make sure they are not a bad influence on your child. Oh, the resources are limitless!!!!!! Do a search online about homeschooling. To start it is wise to go under a christian Umbrella School, because they will help you keep records, teach you the "how too's " and keep it all legal.
It is wayyyy easier. You will probably want PACE books, they are well put together workbooks, to start off, anyway. I love them. My children dont even need me to sit by them all day, because of the fact that these are so well put together! Meet some homeschool families!! Find a homeschool group in your area and go to a meeting and see what it is like, talk to others about their experiences. In time you may end up trading great tips & ideas..etc!
This started me off...Look online search engines for:
Testimonies of homeschooling families,
Statistics, benefits of homeschooling read alot,
"School of Tomorrow"
"HSLDA"
" homeschooling. gomilpitas. c o m "
Look at CROSS WALK . c o m
for homeschooling articles.

The internet is a wonderful source for homeschooling options. You can do homeschooling or cyber school. Regular homeschooling would be you as the parent overseeing all of the requirements. Cyber Schools such as the Calvert School have curriculums that the students follow over the internet and corresond back and forth with actual teachers.

I recently met a woman who used to live in CA and homeschooled there, and it was pretty restrictive. The state paid for materials that were not of a religious nature and sent a teacher out every single month to check the progress of the student. This friend of mine thought it was wonderful - she had lived in that state TOO LONG to realize it was SO MUCH government control. I had another friend there who hs'ed who said that because of the excessive gov't regulation of hsing, most of the hs'ers just didn't register, and there were too many of them for anything to be done about it. Check with your local hsing group. They will help you get started.

check the web for home school programs. U usually purchase the books and cirriculum, then send in tests by e-mail for grading.
U can find many religious based programs, others are not. Read each ones program then check with others who have tried the program. Home schooling is not easy you must set up strict guidelines for your children to follow and you have to be there to help.

Check into the requirements, but CA is so depraved, I don't know what they would be.
