I looked at the censuses on Ancestry and according to the censuses, most of the Laemmerman's that immgrated to this country came from Germany. Most of them were in Ohio, Indiana, New York and Michigan. I hope this helps.

If you mean the surname "Laemmerman", I believe it is an alternative spelling of "Lämmerman" which is pronounced the same. "Lämmerman" is from Germany, though Dutch is very similar so I wouldn't rule The Netherlands out.

It could be Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, German or Austrian. INFObel shows the name distributed across all those countries.

Laemmerman could have been shortened to Lehman, Lahman, Leaman or Lerman. Lehman is German.

If it is German, it means that one of your ancestors was a shepherd. "Lämmer" is the plural of "Lamm", meaning "lamb".
