Bathroom is very small with dark wood cabinets (early 80's look) the house is 1979 house. What are some good paint color choices for such a small bath. I was thinking a semi-gloss light lavendar color with white trim. Any suggestions?

I agree with Dorth, keep your ceiling white and the light green with your lavandar would give it a spa feel. Sponge painting is really easy and maybe you could just do a border of the third color. If you don't like it, you can always paint over it! Lavander looks good with dark wood, but if you plan on painting your cabinets, it can be a pain. The preping and sanding can take a little time to get it right. Semi-gloss is easy to clean in a bathroom too, good choice.

I have a small (and by small I mean 6'x4') bathroom. We had a chunky dark oak sink cabinet and a large dark oak wall cabinet. The bathroom was painted a light yellow.

I decided to paint the entire room white. We removed the old sink cabinet and replaced it with a white cabinet that was longer and not as deep. This made the room appear to be a bit wider. It also gave me more storage as it had 4 drawers and a large space under the sink. I took down the oak wall cabinet, which was over the toilet, and replaced it with a towel rack . We removed the standard medicine cabinet and put up a large oval mirror over the sink, and added appropriate lighting over the mirror. With the white fixtures, and sink cabinet and white shower curtain, the whole room takes on a large and airy feel. The only color I use is in the towels and candles in the bathroom.

The other nice thing about having a white bathroom is that I decorate it for every season! Christmas has a Christmas theme on the shower curtain and towels, I do the same with Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and 4th of July. My quests love it.

Good luck in your renovation.

I love your color selections. I'm just not sure how they would look with your dark cabinets. Also, I think I would go flat not semi-gloss on the walls and do gloss on the trim.

Since you need to keep the color on the walls light, consider staying in the same tone but much much lighter on the walls. Such as Sherwin Williams "Cloud Nine", then you can accent with lavendar, purple and i would toss in some yellow in your accent accessories or the room will look too monotone.

I would do white on the trim.

That sounds like a good color. With a small room...you want to go with a light shade to brighten the room. You could even go with a pale green or sage or a light color that would go with the lavendar and use the light lavender for accessorising. It'd be a good idea to keep the ceiling white, though. If you paint it the same color as the walls...it makes the small room look too boxed in. :)
