Dehydration is a deficiency of water in the body.
Symptoms of dehydration:-
* Dry or sticky mouth
* Low or no urine output; concentrated urine appears dark yellow
* Not producing tears
* Sunken eyes
* Markedly sunken fontanelles (the soft spot on the top of the head) in an infant
* Lethargic or comatose (with severe dehydration)
In addition to the symptoms of actual dehydration, you may also have vomiting, diarrhea, or the feeling that you "can't keep anything down," all of which could be causing the dehydration.
Please see the web pages for more details on Dehydration and Oral rehydration therapy.

Dehydration will leave you feeling lethargic, you can even get a fever. If you press on your finger tip below your nail if it stays "white" for a bit or indented then you are dehydrated.

Babies and children can dehydrate within hours. It can be serious and lead to convulsions and death.

If you can hold down one ounce every hour that is enough to keep you hydrated but if it keeps coming up ( I assume you have the flu? ) then go in and get an IV started. Within an hour or two you will be hydrated.

If you are not peeing that is another sign too. You should drink pedialyte if you can get it at your drug store as it replaces the electrolites in your body which dehydration removes. Buy the flavoured ones they taste horrid.

mild to moderate- thirst, reduced sweating, reduced skin elasticity (if you pinch the skin on the back of your hand and it stays bunched together, you're dehydrated), reduced urine production and dry mouth

Severe- confusion

You should seek medical attention if you can't seem to increase the fluid intake in your body. Ex. If you have severe diahrea, vomitting and you can't get it under control. If your body loses too much of its fluids and you can't increase them, your blood pressure can fall which can actually result in a coma if it is very severe.
