you might want to try the songs of Karen Carpenter. The range of her songs would fit your alto voice.

I was an alto in choir. I was recognized as a state champion, sung solo's and was in the "triple trio" as an alto. I also won the top award in the talent category in the Miss Appleton Pageant singing "The Boy From Ipanemi." I starred in many musicals school wide and semi professionally. I also sung with two men in a trio professionally. I would highly suggest singing "We've Only Just Begun" by Karen Carpenter, or "White Rabbit" by ???(I can't think of the artist right now) or "The Girl From Ipanema." Any of those would work in the "pop" culture of music. Also, anything from "Cher" would work because of her alto voice. Good luck with your choice and work on your voice by practice, practice, practice.

If it can be an older song try something for PETER PAUL AND MARY like LEAVING ON A JET PLANE. Or try Janis Jopplin. You will probly have to look for older music due to newer performers are tending to be more sopranos. GOOD LUCK!
