I am going to make a cake and I need some oil. All I have is extra virgin olive oil, but I don't feel like going to the store just to get another kind of oil. How would a yellow cake taste with extra virgin olive oil? Thanks.

I don't know about that, but I do know you can substitute apple sauce for the oil. So if you have any applesauce, give it a try. I promise you'll love it!!!

Extra Virgin Olive Oil will make your cake taste really bad. Don't use it. You could though use apple sauce instead. and invest in some simple vegetable or canola oil

Believe it or not you have stumbled on to and old secret in baking, yes by all means use the Olive Oil, it will enhance the flavor in the cake. Olive oil is used more in baking now instead of the over use of butter.

Extra Virgine Olive wouldn't be right in a yellow cake it would inpart a savory taste you really need a vegetable oil.

I've never used EVOO tho, but I'm sure it would be fine. Do you have any applesauce? If it calls for one cup oil, use one cup applesauce. We've always done this and it tastes just fine and it saves you lots of calories.
