A single rose is beautiful, it's more intimate than a dozen and should be delivered in person, make sure the presentation is right. A dozen roses are great, especially if they are delivered to her workplace. She'll be envied by her co-workers and can look at them and think of you each time. I've been the receiver of both many times and guess I could say that the dozen roses stand out more than the single rose, except for once. My significant other and I were in the store, he said he had to go to the bathroom. When we got out to the car, he bends down towards the tire and says "what's this?" He had gotten me a single rose in the store and hid it on top of the tire as a surprise to me. I'll never forget that moment, a total surprise and so romantic!

Interesting and good question.
I think it depends on several things; 1) The relationship, 2) The reason or event and 3) How that rose is presented.
A single rose is always charming when given to a person directly - not delivered. If roses are delivered then a dozen.
Now... all people are different. Some really enjoy getting roses sent to them; in that case a dozen.
For me personally, either way - depends on the situation. If we're talking Valentine's Day - definitely a dozen.
Depending on the relationship the colors mean something... Red, of course is love, Pink, White, Sterling, Peach, etc. all mean other things. So if you're not sure - ask the florist - they'll be happy to help.

Personally I would want a single rose, because to me that shows I stand out from everyone else and he considers me special. I know woman love the idea of getting a dozen of roses, but think about how many before you got that dozen. And if you notice a single rose has a tendency to last longer than a dozen. When someone hands you a single rose, it sends off such a warm essence in the room, and us ally when you receive a dozen it's us ally for an occasion like a birthday ,anniversary, valentine's day etc. So you expect a dozen roses. But a single rose there is no occasion, it just shows that he was thinking about you, and to me that's worth more than waiting for a dozen on your birthday.

If presented correctly, then a single red rose is so special. What I mean is...if you get an 'arrangement' for the single...like a vase with the rose, greenery, all that...then that looks a little cheap...something like, I am not willing to put out the cash for more than one...if you are doing an arrangement, go for a dozen. Otherwise, if you give the rose directly to her...no vase, just natural (like you picked it yourself from a rose garden somewhere)...that is very personal and very romantic. As with most things, presentation is everything...good luck!...P.S...a card, a poem you wrote, something like that along with the rose is even better!

unlike everyone else I would rather get a doezen because a single rose = love but a dozen roses= love x a dozen!!!! Also because it means he spent more money on you getting a lot of roses instead of just one!!!!!
She will like either one NO MATTER WHAT! Its the thought that counts

I personally don't care for a dozen roses, because they don't seem to last long after they leave the florist, I feel like it is throwing money away. So a single rose of any color would do good for me, and would save money for something else.

For me a single rose because I feel that the person looked for the perfect rose rather than just take the bunch.

A single rose. To me it seems more romantic. A single rose says "I love you." A dozen just says " I have a lot of money."

i prefer of course a dozen. it a magnified manifestation of his love for me. but if a dozen would cost a lot and not possible, then a single rose is better than nothing. saves money to spend for dinner.
