I read a previous message by someone who stated their Church stresses exercise and correct diet to become stronger spiritually. Yet there are terminally ill people who remain faithful and resist temptation, so what do you think of the idea that fitness and healthy eating is a requirement to grow spiritually? I'm sure it's helpful, and as humans we need balance in both areas, but there are plenty of fit people who serve the Devil.

The body is the temple of the soul.If you have the opportunity it is paramount to keep it healthy , protect it and respect it as holy.
A healthy body helps create a healthy mind.A healthy mind can meditate and pray at its optimum power.
Moreover, Jesus had a human body, and that fact makes our image and our bodies sacred things by association.
If there are fit people who serve the enemy then that is all the more reason for Christians to be physically fit also.

If healthy eating is necessary to resist spiritual temptation, then all the religions that require ritual fasting must really want their followers to give in to their temptations.

What if I am physically fit and eat well but don't believe in God or the Devil? Oh, I serve, me. At least I'm real and serve a cause.

Physical healthiness serves your mind which is the vehicle of the divine. You polish a cup before putting your lips to it, yes? this is much the same. Plus it is good to be well grounded, and physical activity vs testing the strength of your chair helps to do this.
