I think your post has one question and one assumption. I believe the underlying assumption is - if the leaders of a country practice a religion that emphasize peace, the county will be more peaceful, internally and externally with their neighbors.
I think there are many more dominant factors in the play though.

The countries u have mentioned have lots of Buddhist.
A good Buddhist follower is a person who loves,respects and treat all the other beings well.
There is a meditation they practiced which is called as Loving Kindness ( Metta Bhavana ).

Buddhism is pretty diverse. The Buddhism of Modern Tibet is not the same as the Buddhism of the Samurai Japan.
So, pick a flavor of Buddhism, and look at how it affected it's host country

Buddhism was founded in india by Buddha who is an indian too...but from my experience, the pure buddhism founded by him is only practiced in india n srilanka...ther are now diff types of buddhism...well i shld say these countries are way lot peaceful compared to US and middle east...
