Such as getting a tattoo of a band name or symbol. Some people do it, some people hate it, some people could care less. Where do you fall?

seems like a bad idea in general. a really meaningful lyric might be ok, but the band's name or symbol is just stupid. people tend to mature and their tastes change...

For some diehard fans, its the ultimate honor for them to get tattoos of their favorite bands. Especially since they've been a devoted follower for years. I also follow into that category, BUT what most people fail to remember is that tattoos DO indeed last forever. Will you like that same band forever? I have a friend who's in love with Nirvana, and has a nirvana-related tattoo, and waited 10 years to get it done, you know to see if he's still devoted, he is. I have another friend who got a blind melon tattoo...she kicks herself everytime she looks at it. So just like every other tattoo, you gotta make sure its something you REALLY want.

I wanted to get a band tattoo when I was 18, 10 years ago, and the artist advised me to wait at least a year and see if I still wanted it since he saw soooooo many people coming in with band tats that they want covered up. I still would like to have it, but maybe in a less conspicuous area than the arm like I originally planned. I do have 4 other tats though.

I think that it is overrated. Chances of the band being around anymore than a few years is very unlikely. If you are going to get a tattoo, then get one that speaks to your personality and shows your uniqueness as a person. People with band or universal symbol tattoos, seem to me to be saying "Me too, Me too!". Get one that shows you are the special person that you are. I do not think you will regret it.

Well I have Jimi Hendrix sig on my calf so theres no way I'm against it but I would never get a band or singer thats still alive mostly because I'm afarid I'll hate them for making a bad move or something and I'm syuck with a band that has failed in my eyes so onkly bands that are dead for me :)

I wouldn't do it, I'd liken it to getting a significant others name. It's okay for people that have that level of adoration or feel like it's super important to display the name. I would never do it, don't down on people who do. Like every other tattoo, it's a personal choice.

make sure REALLY want it, and that the band isn't just a passing flash in the pan....anybody remember culture club? bananarama? the bangles? ratt? poison? duran duran?

if you MUST get a "band" tattoo, get something classic, like the "lips" logo for the Rolling Stones (they've been around since befor the Johnson administration)

i don't hate it, don't love it but i don't not care. i would never get a tattoo of a band's symbol or logo. bands change, or break up and then what? but whatever, it's not my skin!

I would never get a tattoo of something like that, it's just kind of weird, but whatever I don't have to live with it.
