Why do people feel the need to attack other cultures?

Question

Recently I pulled into a parking spot, pulled through, so I do not have to back out (I hate backing up). As I was three-quarters of the way through, a man tried pulling into the space I was moving into. He kept telling me to back up, I refused. He got out of the car and looked at my sweat shirt and said, "you must be a dumb pollock because your from michigan," with his heavy New York accent. Is it just me, or do all New Yorkers have such a nasty attitude about everything.

Whoever is ignorant of his or her own culture attacks other cultures. The more appreciative one grows of one's culture the more appreciative this person is of the foreign ones.

I've heard New Yorkers have really bad attitudes, but then again, you can't say everyone is that way just because a few are
Everywhere you go, you have to take the good with the bad. Just ignore idiots like that.

I have always that New Yorkers are a different breed of people. As for people attacking other cultures, I think this is done to try and make themselves feel better about what and who they are. Call it low self esteem. But, it is hurtful, and it is wrong.

In America this is a way to degrade others. A Newyorker would degrade a Taxen and vice versa. There is no reflection to culture in such baddy behaviour.
