The US Military used to have a program that was referred to "High School to Flight School" where they would train High School grads as a Helicopter Pilot right out of school.

-Do they still have this progam, if so whats the real name of the program?

-What are the requirments? Mainly, the sight requirments?

The US Army has had a Helicopter Warrant Officer Program since the days prior to the Vietnam War. It was started to supply sufficient helicopter pilots to support the then new "Air-mobile Division". A Warrant Officer then has the "rank" to fly... but not the "commission" to command...

Someone here posted a FINE link to it... goarmy.com. Sight requirements would be the same as all Army flight training.

When I was in the Navy, I had two fellow SH-60B enlisted aircrewmen transfer to the Army and that program in about 1989. Both graduated and are flying there to this day.

Just FYI... The Navy had a program: NAVCAD (Naval AViation CADet) in the 50's & 60's, and then again in the 80's... it would take those physically qualified who only had an Associates Degree or equivalent... run them thru the flight program and award them their wings and commission upon graduation... and the opportunity to finish ones Bachelors Degree after your first tour.

Failing the program would put you in the Fleet as an E-1 (airman) with a 3 year commitment.

Do a search for warrant office flight training and you should get there. Or search army aviation or fort ruck er. There is much info. I think it's still possible to get a shot at the program as part of your enlistment contract but would ask a recruiter to be certain.

No such program exists. In order to be an army pilot, you must be a commissioned or warrant officer. To become a warrant officer, you must first be enlisted, then apply. The competition is extremely stiff, but much easier than obtaining a commission.

NO, you can train in ROCT for that now, if things escalate then the military will adjust to make it easier for ones to get into such programs.
