No. If you want to live it's very important to follow the treatment your doctor has prescribed. Your doctor is your GOD until you are cured, and don't suppose you know better becasue you don't. If it's terminal that's another thing altogether, but if you don't know, why in God's name would you stop!

You will be very sick for a few days after chemo, but don't eat before hand and go easy for a few days after. The nausea only lasts a few days.

It's very important you follow what the doctor says. You want to get rid of this. If you stop the cells will grow spread and then there will be no coming back.

I've seen people kill their children believing in all this "holistic" medicine and crap...by the time they came back the cancer was so widespread there was no hope. Don't buy into unproven theories. There have been studies done for years before these meds hit the market.

Mind you, I don't know if I would be as trusting of doctors if I lived in the USA...I wouldn't put my confidence in just anyone down there. Get a good oncologist.

Trust me, my son is a survivor and they work miracles at the children's hospital. Other's should have it so good...but unfortunately they don't. Most people are diagnosed way too late and you can thank the healthcare system and government for that.

You have the right to stop chemotherapy or any other treatment. It is entirely up to you. However, I am sure you know that if you stop, your chances of going into remission will decline considerably. If it was me, however, I would NOT have the chemo treatments, unless they could guarantee me that I would be cured. Otherwise, I would just continue to live my life the way I do now, until the end. But that is just me - I cannot speak for you. But everyone has the right to refuse any sort of medical treatment. Just be sure that you have researched all of your options, and discuss it with your doctor and your family. Only you can decide. I have a friend that has cancer, and she has opted for no more treatments. She is happy with her choice even though she knows that she will leave this earth very soon. She is comfortable with her choice. I don't know if you are the one with cancer or a family member, but I wish you the best and I will keep you in my prayers.

In order for chemotherapy to be effective there are certain protocols to follow. There are certain cancers in which the dose needs to build up slowly in order to shrink the tumors or make them disappear. If you miss the next scheduled time for the chemo . . it may literally mean the difference between life and death.

That said, yes, a patient can stop the chemotherapy at any point but only with the full knowledge that they may never be able to regain the ground they've covered. They may only have one chance at surviving the cancer and they may be giving that one chance up. So, if you stop chemo . . do it with no regrets . . do it with the knowledge that you may have given up that one chance to survive your cancer.

And, there are certainly questionable cases where chemotherapy is given after all the cancer has been removed by surgery where chemo could be stopped. Oncologists will sometimes give what is called adjuvant chemotherapy to high risk patients who have no visible disease. The idea is to kill off any microscopic cells that may still be lingering. In that instance, chemo could be stopped after the first dose.

I do know one cancer patient who gave up after one dose of adjuvant chemotherapy. He knows fully well what could happen, but he only had one tumor that was completely removed. He did not want to continue adjuvant chemo and chose to do complementary instead. It remains to be determined whether this was the correct move, but he is comfortable with the decision and that needs to be respected.

Definitely "NO"! I know were you are coming from...I had testicular cancer that went into my lymph nodes. I wanted to stop that Chemo after the first treatment. I felt like I was dying...my hair was falling out in gobs, when I would scratch myself my skin would turn black. The sores in my mouth hurt really bad. I was throwing up like a exorcist, nevertheless...I am here now and it has been 25yrs since that horrible time. The med's and treatment are so much more advanced and less pain full, you can do it! You will do it! Remember that so many other people are going through what you are, so many have already gone through what you are and will survive! Keep the faith and follow through and conquer that evil decease!

Chemotherapy is without a doubt a essential component of cancer treatment. Its takes a toll on the body, and with family members who stay at the bedside watching their loved ones endure treatment that makes them so very sick.It may take several treatments according to the Oncologist plan of care.Through research and patients trials, chemo has gotten much better and more refined, and recent studies have proved very successful.I went through this my daughter, when she had acute myelogenous leukemia,it was torture for her and for me,to watch. She endured 3 cycles of chemo, lasting 2 weeks each with a 2 week rest period. Please have faith in the MD's,trust that they only want the best for your family member, they want the patient to beat the odds.Take care,I wish you all the best. It's up to the patient. It's the patients choice if they want treatment or not. If the doctor has given good hope, then why not try there is nothing to lose. My mum suffered from colon/liver cancer she knew from the begining that it was terminal but she tried 8 cycles of chemo first then she was told that the tumors were shrinking she tried 4 more cycles but when she was told that chemo was not working any more she decided to stop. Remember it is always the patients choice to receive treatment or not.Good luck and God Bless

Yes you can. It is the patients choice if they want to continue treatment. If it is a family member that is getting the chemo, and you want it stopped however, THAT is not your choice. Chemo is hard, I have been through it, I could understand not wanting to do it anymore., but it is still up to the patient.

Yes, but don't! I wanted to quit when undergoing chemo for breast cancer, but I stuck with it and I am still here. After you finish the treatments, your body returns to its normal state (mostly) and you forget everything you had to endure. Life is worth it!
