Do you think it is safe to cook or should I throw it away and not risk it.

I took its temp and it was in the danger zone. I am tossing it. I don't want to risk my family getting sick. Now there is a frozen pork loin on the counter thawing out for tonight. I won't forget about it this time!

It is still good to cook and eat.

When in doubt..."temp it"....don't risk a food borne bacterial infection.
No warmer than internal temp of 40F (raw)
Cook to internal temp of 165F....make sure temp is 165 for 30 seconds (after taking off heat)

Thawed meat, safe at 2 days in fridge.
After cooking, re-heat leftovers only once.

Edit:
I take it you already placed it in the fridge while talking to us?
If so, how cold was it? Still firm from cold? Ice?
If it was completely thawed and not really, really cold....I'd toss it.

Edit:
155F for pork (away from bone) "keep Hot foods Hot before serving" (at safe temp)

I have done that before many times. The safest method to thawing chicken is placing in the fridge for a couple of days. I ususally place mine in the kitchen sink and let it thaw out. If you just left it on the counter top, although still cold, it is probably still good to use. Open the chicken and see how it smells. It will have a rancid odor when it starts to turn bad. Your chicken will be safe to use, but use it quickly.

By cold do you mean still frozen? The danger zone is between 40 and 140 degrees. Since this was frozen, if it rose above the temperature of 40 degrees for over two hours then bacteria will have already begun growing. Good luck!

Just make sure it's completely cooked.
Every night before I go to bed I take out the next day's meat from the freezer. When I get up (about 7-8 hours later), I put it in the fridge until I'm ready to make supper. I have been doing this for over 30 years and I'm still around .... and so is my family!

We always leave a 9 or 10 pound turkey out overnight and it does not thaw all the way so the chicken should be OK. If it was cold - cold and you put it in the fridge immediately. then cook away and enjoy.

I guess I'm just overly cautious because I would toss it. I never leave chicken out to thaw. I either thaw it with water or in the refrigerator.

Of course, that's how we thaw our frozen meats, take them out in the morning and cook with it at night.

I remember as a child my mother always defrosted like that and I am still here talking about it. It would be much safer if it were done in the fridge, but it would take a day or two to defrost. On countertop one night your good no big worries.

I think it's safe. I sometimes leave chicken out all day to thaw, while I am at work, and then cook it at night.
