Religious belief is more complex than simply thinking this is true, or this is not.

Your parents are probably upset because they find comfort in the church, and would like you to find comfort there as well.

Remember, your parents have lived lives remarkably like you are living, and the decided being a member of the church is the best way to live it.

If you don't feel comfortable being confirmed, then you probably shouldn't get confirmed. But I'd still recommend going to church.

And I'd let your parents keep telling you the things they think are important about being a member of their church.

Have a heart to heart with your parents. Tell them exactly how you feel. Be truthful and honest. Do not let your feelings of being an atheist come across as being an excuse not to go to church, but a reason and a logical one.

stay cool and calm. If they get upset, then let them - you stay cool and focused. If the conversation gets into a shouting match, then nobody wins. Take control and let them know how you feel.

The only thing you can do right now is just go along with their crap till you're 18. I had ta do it too but I'm finally free of it and there isn't a damn thing they can do about it. Below is a website that can help you with other questions as well as give you some leverage when arguing your views with your parents. Hope this helps. Stay strong!

If you follow a faith just because someone else wants you to, that's being hypocritical. Remind your parents that the book of Matthew is resplendent with Jesus saying bad things about hypocrits.

I'm sure they can't understand that its impossible to force yourself to believe in something that you don't because being Christian was so easy for them. Challenge them to stop believing in God...if they give up and say they can't, then say, "See, I made my point."

Theyve been blinded by religion and they cant force you to be confirmed so dont worry. It is completely wrong for them to inflisct religion on you if you dont want to believe in any religion.

i agree my dad believes and my mum don't and I'm sort of in-between. i believe that a god may exist but that he is not all powerful and that science has more of an influence on us or maybe science existed before god and god is just another life form like us that has evolved because of science???
anyway i wouldn't be troubled buy it as long as they accept Ur opinion its OK i suppose.

No, you shouldn't feel bad. Sit your parents down and explain to them, calmly, that your views are different and that they need to respect that. Tell them that it doesn't make you a bad person and it doesn't make you any less their daughter. They still might not get it, but give them time.

well dont tell them that you are. itll only be for as long as you live with them, the rest of your life will be in peace. just go to church and do what they do, just dont be as involved and relax. it is bs.
