you should start learning some sort sort of scriptin but more importantly you need to have ideas and a sense of design.

If your really really new to computers you could start using powerpoint to build up on your design skills. Then you could start desingning websites using dreamweaver, then you could start to look at tje source codes of simple sites to give you a basic understanding of scripting. to do this goto a site and goto view> source.

If you've been using computers for while a while and you feel like an expert then start making flash applications. Actionscripting would help you advance on scripting skills and all the other design features in flash would help you advance your design skills. script assist and global function features in flash definately help you with an understanding to actions scripting. To understand actionscripting and build on your design skills further try this site: www.flashkit.com and see some of their tuorials. They will help!

If you've done flash and everything maybe the next stage is java! I've never done java so i can't really give you advice, but i know it would probarbly be the next step and you could always use online tutorials to help yourself.

goodluck

PS. you could do a few short courses with proper tutors/ teachers and stuff.

um.. well.. i have to agree with that guy up there... but i recommend c++ because it employs both in software and hardware unlike other programs like Java that only does software (mostly) and turing that does only software.
