It often happens that a sight like the slaughtering of an animal can upset you to an extent that you wish never again to partake of a meat meal, understandably so.At the other end of the scale are the many people who as a matter of routine choose a caged hen & have it slaughterd to take home as fresh poultry, cooking & eating logically follow. Both aspects are part & parcel of one's way of thinking & more so of habit & culture.

I raised chickens as a kid for probably eight or nine years and I did end up learning how to properly kill and butcher them at one point. I raised those hens from little chicks up and they had names and I spent time with them. I had to remember that they are animals and their purpose is either laying eggs or fried chicken so I went at it like that. It was hard killing them and less hard butchering them and even less hard eatting them! Still, I'd rather let someone else do the dirty work and take it home fresh. If you saw a hen killed before your very eyes and then you bought it and took it home at least you know that it is as fresh as it gets! So enjoy!

Probably not ,because 'hen' is usally an older chicken who no longer lays eggs, and can be quite tough and tasteless. Chicken on the other hand is quite good - regardless of who does the butchering. In this day and age we are far removed from the living version of our food and therefore can be quite 'delicate' when it comes to realizing that for centuries and centuries humans have killed the meat they want to eat.

I saw that and it was sick. I never gave much thought to those animals before i saw that. That night at dinner i didn't even want to eat food. I know we eat animals but if you give a little thought to it, it is disgusting

Nope, and I don't want to. I like meat, don't get me wrong. But I cannot see something slaughtered and then eat it. I guess I'm weird that way.
