I don't know about the Zafira, but I hired a Renault Scenic recently and was really surprised at how good it was, although I think it's quite an ugly car. It had a lot of legroom both in front and back, and was a smooth, comfortable drive. The one I had was a 2litre, and was pretty nippy too, and seemed very economical.

I depends on how long you are going to have it for and if your buying new or second hand. I like the scenic but in my experience the Zafira is more reliable and cheaper to repair. My local renault dealers are not very helpfull either

Well I went for the Scenic and I am now on my second, having driven Vauxhalls for eight years.

I think it is all down to personal choice I suspect and you need to test drive both and decide. Only you can decide.

What I like about the Scenic ..... smooth, very comfortable, light and airy. Great for passengers. Great sounding stereo. Solidly built. Not bad at all on petrol, 41mpg on a long run. Great dashboard set up.

What I don't like about the Scenic ..... very flat to drive. Petrol version underpowered. Niggling recurring faults. Seemingly hard on tyres ... 20k a set.

Anyway ... the Renault has got vr .. vr.. vr.. vroom hasn't it? And you can shake that booty!

I would go for the Zafira because I have found for many many years that Vauxhalls are really reliable, no problems except the usual - exhausts, tyres etc.

Scenic every time - much nicer interior and cleverer design. We have had our scening for 6 years and it has done 110,000 miles and we still love it. I've hired a zafira several times and found it hard and uncomfortable as well as poorly built.

I would buy the zafira, the french can't build a car to save their lives, they are all cheaply and badly designed crap that spend more time in the garage than on the road. I have worked on them all. my wife has a 2.L turbo diesel zafira. it does 50 mpg, nice to drive has a good standard cd player. She recently had an accident in her one. It went off the road in black ice over onto its roof down a 6 ft bank. All it had was a few dents and it still drives good. This car speaks for itself.
