Well saying that all men have to prove that they are tough is like saying 'all females need to bake me a cake'. Now on the other hand guys are generally just 'tougher' to a point, its part of who we are and how we was brought up. Its called testosterone, and lets face it females are naturally attracted to strong confident men no matter if you want to admit it or not. Now I am not saying that some guys dont take it too far because there are idiots on both sides of the gender fences. So if you want a different kind of guy then I suggest you look at the kind of guys you are dating and being friends with because you ultimately put yourself in that position, NOT the guy. He is just being who he naturally is and doing what he assumes attracts you (and possibly does). My self personally I dont feel that I have to prove anything to anyone, but I am highly competitive and can not stand loosing. I can loose gracefully but would much rather win!

Women are attacked to men they feel will provide financial and physical security. They want someone who can handle themselves without acting like a thug. This must be very difficult to accomplish, because it seems to be a rare trait.

Males proving that they are the "alpha" are very common in nature. We have all seen footage of rams butting heads, ultimately, it is the same thing. Women desperate enough for companionship will often overlook idiotic behavior, reinforcing male moronic traits. It is a vicious cycle that I suspect has gone on since the beginning of our species and isn't in danger of ending.

Why do women put on make up and dress sexy .It's just nature .The sexy dress and make up Is a woman's modern day plumage.And just like other animal some men need to show dominance .The only problem is some men show it mentally and some physically. We are just acting out an age old ritual

Because that is what men are designed to do
we are animals after all
It is in our nature to be strong enough to be able attract the best females to choose from as a potential partner.
We should also be able to take care of our partner in all sort of difficult situations, to provide for her & create a safe environment for her & for any children to grow up in.
This is what women inherently look for when choosing a partner
Also to earn respect from fellow men so they don't mess with you or your family
