You know, i hate it when everybody just responds to hair questions with "go to a salon." but seriously. . . go to a salon. Just this time, I don't know how you'd fix this. It's very difficult to dye multicolored hair back to anything resembling normality at home unless you're very good at this. It sounds like either you bought a kit made for tinting red hair, which looks really weird on non red haired people, or you have red tones in your hair you didn't notice before- and this brought them out more.
Ash toned dyes with no "golden" "auburn" or "titian" in the titles might fix this, but I think you'd be happier going to a salon- they might be able to get what you wanted in the first place to happen.

Go to a salon...your hair being that dark naturally and you trying to highlight it without stripping the areas you want blonde just lightened your natural haircolor...make sense? It's like when you bleach a black shirt, it just turns red, not white. The color already there can't turn super light without some color being removed. You can't dye it back to your natural color at home because it might not work out as well. See some professional stylists who know how to fix this kind of thing. Don't feel bad, it's fixable.

those kits are terrible!! i would go to a salon and have it fixed...this way you can still have the hilights you want in the end..but not the way they look now. It would be impossible to try and to it again (by yourself) you would just end up with more orange, and if it's super orange nothing is going to tone it to look decent. It has to be lifted up a little lighter or something. (it's hard to say because I can't see it) But I would go at least have a consultation at a salon-they should be free. they can pick out the peices you want hilighted and then match your brown color and put it on the rest....: )

It sounds like you were going thru the bleach processing colors-dark hair has to go orange, then down to yellow, then white/blonde.
Sounds like you need to kick down and go to a salon and have them color it. They can tone down the orange by adding other colors.
I effed up like this once..in the late 90's I did the same thing. It didn't work out and I went to a salon got some great color. Never done a home job since.

I have had mine orange , Green, When you use any kind of coloring, make sure it says ASH brown or what ever Color.
the ash in it. keeps the color from turning a different color,
wash your hair several times, add a little Vinegar to some water,
than wash it again, that should get the most of it out. or enough
to where it won't look so bad. do not put anymore Chemicals
on you hair until you get the color all out.It will wash out in time.
Remember ASH?? Good Luck.

first of all, what happened is the commercial product isnt strong enough to take hair as light as you want, orange is in the middle so needed to go farther ( longer time), if you still want highlites go to a pro or just put it back , staying the natural or N family. choose a shade (1 ) lighter than yours and you will still have some dimension in the result. Good Luck!!!!!!!

This happened to me by a top notch hair stylist years ago.
She told me to wash my hair with Tide with Bleach. I was desperate. Believe it or not it washed it out of my hair enough that I could live with it. I had to put it on my hair and let it set for about 10 minutes. I could not believe how much of the dye came out in the tub. Now I soak my hair in a lot of conditioner and put a plastic shopping bag over it and tie in a knot at the front and let it set for about 30 minutes. Then I was it out. I will do this for about 2 hours straight until I get it out. If you use the Tide above do not get it into your eyes. I don't think it is safe to use on your scalp though it did work. I don't think it is safe to use hair dyes anymore. I use Henna with Walnut or other natural additives. You can do a lot with Henna products.

Same here lol, just go to a top notch salon and they'll sort it out. It's worth the money, better than those DIY kits ...
