I'm in a dilemma: I'm a Catholic (was baptised as a baby). However I just recently started taking religion seriously. I've been reading about the Ten Commandments and pondered about the Christian values and philosophies, and though it would help make me a better person.

Since then, I've found myself feeling more resentful towards people (including my non-religious friends and people of other faiths) and the things I used to enjoy (I was something of a ladies man).

I think the point of religon is to learn to live well, benefit the community and appreciate and love God. What I want to know is;

Which should I do:

A) Live life resenting and pitying others and living in constant fear of God's wrath, and doing good deeds under duress from prospects of suffering Hell.

or

B) Live the best I can, do good deeds out of love for people no matter their cultural backgrounds, and enjoy the harmless pleasures it has to offer. Love and respect God like a father and mediator.

Please don't take my question the wrong way. I've been feeling very confused lately and had trouble being myself.

It feels like there's been a big tug-of-war going on in my head day and night.

Sorry if I offended anyone. Religion is a sensitive matter and I don't mean to offend at all.

okay.. what you think until here is right... but then... you feel resentful over others? -_-;;; not needed!

be happy to the max as you can be! for you can go in to kingdom of heavens! you believe in jesus and that's good!
if you really feel bad about others who aren't in jesus, pray for them! if you can persuade them to join Jesus, try, if you think they'll laugh at you cuz their personality is SO-against jesus, leave them be(because you cant do anything-_-) let God do something about them. God's not liek our parents and teachers... He forgives and he waits. he won't punish until he's got good enough reasons....

anyway overall.. just be happy person like you should. believe in God. Take the religion seriously, but dont be too much serious as to worry about things like that :) did that help?

You are searching for a personal relationship with Christ Jesus. Although you were brought up Catholic, you have not yet taken the leap - saved by grace through faith. Believe on Him, ask to be a part of His family. Repent of sins.

The tug of war is between this world and God - choose very carefully - the choice affects eternity, not just the short time we have on this Earth.

As for resentment - that's because you still want to do the things of the world and you resent those that still do. Please believe me when I say that the temporary fun you receive from partying, sexual impurity, are very temporary - they will leave you empty and without joy in the long run. True joy comes from a relationship with Almighty God. When you have found that joy, there is nothing this world can offer that will compete.

As for being a 'ladies' man', when you find the person with whom you want to spend the rest of your life, you will know complete fulfillment in sex, not before. I know, I have been stupid in my youth and was not pure until marriage. I have a wonderful husband and the bond, the love and the respect for each other enhances our intimate relationship like no other.

You are too wrapped up in deeds. Don't be a human doing, be a human Being. You first have to get to know the Father you want to serve. He is all loving and all forgiving. He has set forth a path for you to follow if you will only stop and listen for His direction. The resentment you feel is your flesh battling with your spirit for control. Give both the flesh and the spirit over to your Father and He will do His perfect will.

Read the bible with an open mind and get out of recognized religon. The bible says: John 17:3 This means everlasting life their taking in knowledge of you the only true god. and of the one you sent forth Jesus Christ.
Matthew 5:5 "the meek will inherit the earth"
One day soon God willl destroy the wicked as he did in the days of Noah and bring peace to the earth.
Would something Adam and Eve did cause him to change his purpose for the earth?
Most religion is in it for the money and have turned many honest hearted people away from the bible.
Don't let them do that to you.
The wages of sin is death.
God told Adam when he sinned, "for dust you are and to dust you will return."
Religion uses hell fire to keep people contributeing.
Give me money to pray them out of hell.
Read Matthew 27:60 Jesus was in the grave
Acts 2:31 says he was in hades.
Would a loving God keep someone alive just to torture them?
Forever, forever, forever someone who tortured a dog for 6 weeks would be a monster.

I was raised in the catholic church also.
I, too, went searching for God.....
and He found me.
I pray the same happens to you.
you will be amazed how God will open your eyes to His Truth and many of your questions will be answered.
this is important.....
please read:
John 3: The Words of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh)
3. "Verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
4. Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
5. Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."
6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
16. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18. He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

Religion is one thing, your spirituality is another. You have to eventually decide what it is you believe and let that philosophy guide you. For most it helps to be expressing your beliefs within an established religion. The most important thing is your relationship with God and to understand He sent His Only Begotten Son to the end that all Who believe in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Once you are clear about that, it will be easier to not be confused.

Religion is pretty bad. Its basically just peoples rules used to control others and make you feel bad. I think the most important thing is to have a good relationship with god and love others!

I think you should do some objective Bible study and consider being something besides Catholic. Visit some different churches and pray about it.
Don't do good deeds because you are scared of hell; do good deeds because you love God and people.

Since you've named yourself after the Norse god of mischief, maybe you shouldn't take it seriously at all.

I went through the same self-examination you're experiencing now. It's not easy. I ended up an atheist, but that was where my journey took me. If yours reaffirms your faith, that's great.
And just for the record, "B" might be your best option. But that's just my opinion.
