I know this sounds messed but I am SO SICK of conformity!! I hate how easy it is to look like everyone else and how hard it is to stand out! And I fear I am just another conformer too! I try my best to stick out with the way I act and dress but it's hard and I want some suggestions on how I can dress and do my hair to be different. I don't want to be like everyone else.

Good point on that if you take someone elses opinions on being original, you aren't. But i don't mean for you to tell me how to act and stuff, I already act different and such. But I just want to basically know people's opinions and sites on cool different hair styles, hair cuts, dye jobs and where I can go to get clothes that are different and not the same as everyone elses and how to maybe change my clothes by cutting them or sewing them in different ways or ides how to make my own. I just want some ideas cause I am so sick of labels and all that crap. Like, if I go goth or something really I am comforming to that and I really would be a poser cause I don't worship death or have strong gothic views. I just want to be different, and I guess I do dress and act different but I just want some more ideas ok thanks!

Like, I just want to find a way to be a bit different, I am bored of the sameness. Also, ideas on accesories would be good too, little things to funk up my style and such.

Well, I'd suggest letting your actions speak for themselves, first and foremost. Find a hobby no-one is into, play an unusual instrument like the hammer dulcimer or the bodhran, or take up some kind of art or craft- especially if it's something nobody knows how to do, like ukio-e. You could also take up making your own clothes- because then, the sky is the limit, and you might make a bit of money as people learn you know how to do that kind of thing.

But if you want to look unusual while you're doing this. . . well, the quickest and most painless way to do this is to dye your hair with a semipermanent dye in a wild color. I prefer the pinks and purples, partially because my hair is red and I can't do green to save my life but also because it's just this side of not a natural color. It gets people's attention without screaming for it. Manic Panic is hands down my favorite brand. The gel formula lasts a lot longer than the creme, but it's all temporary so there's no commitment. Here's their website.

If you're not quite ready for that, you could always turn to subtly different cosmetics. Here's a good site for that.

Good luck and I salute your attempts at originality.

Hair -

Unless your profession is a big-city hairdresser of a well-known salon, it is almost impossible to come up with an original style, and be able to communicate your idea to the hair dresser to get the style you wanted.

My suggestion:
Go to the top salon in a big city wearing the clothes you think best represents you (or what you want to be). And tell the hairdresser what you wrote here.

Clothes -
From my experinece and looking at others, normal people must spend at least $10,000 - 20,000 of your own hard-earned money to get the idea of what suit you. So it should take years.

Originality -
I do not think you mean being original = dying your hair pink!
You will naturally stand out when all of your physical characteristics (tall, thin, etc), hair, clothes and personality match. (just think of how many people around us have crazy combination!)

If you like any celebrities whose physical characteristics are close to yours, and you approve her fashion, you can go from there.

(but watch out for bad examples - e.g. late A.N.Smith)

If you take anyone's suggestion on being original, then guess what? You are not original.

The funny thing is, everyone is trying to stand out and try to top each other in being original and different in the way they dress and look.

Dont put too much effort in looking different to stand out. Be polite, drive with manners, care for people-be a good human. That will make you stand out. Its got to be your beliefs and actions that make you, you...not what you wear.

good question.
well, you don't have to change you look to be original. originality is given by your personality.
however, try mixing different styles, don't follow all trends, create your own style. and be you - no one else would ;)
