the chip has moved from the back of the neck to the front of the chest, if she was lost and they scaned her they would only scan the back of the neck and think she was not microchipped,i went back to the vet who microchipped her and had to pay to have her re microchipped has anyone else had this problem in australia

Call the vet that put in the chip.

it happens regularly and most vets are aware of this they usually scan the neck and around the shoulder areas to check for microchips. I found a dog that was lost and the chip had moved but the vet did find it and pup was reunited back with her owner.

The problem is simple, get a tattoo on the dog! Tattoo the dog's neck to say, "Look at my chest, Vet Dude!"

Yes i had this problem. They say over time the microchip moves. if you ask me its a wast of money.

If I were you, I would go to furykids.net and read the articles there on the dangers of microchips
