i have a budgie aviary with 6 budgies currently in it. I think it is about 1 metre by about 9 foot so they have a good flight. But it is a bit boring. It is a great aviary but please help me make it more interesting! Here a picture of it

Get an apple tree branches for them to chew If you can't get any use a wooden clothes horse so they have plenty of perches.

I string a dozon or so toilet roll inners together and hang that in mine, they like to play on and chew them.
String up beads and bells, mirrors and other toys even hamster wheels, budgies love to play.

I put out nest-boxes.

I give them one of these each day along with thier seed and fresh water:
Salad Cress - Peas - Apple - Celery - Courgette - Sweetcorn - Watercress - Boiled Rice - Parsley Sprig - Grapes - Cucumber - Dandelion Leaves - Broccoli - Board Beans - Carrots - Finger of bread soaked in water - Mashed Boiled Egg (shell also) - Tomatoes - Lettuce - Cooked Pasta - Radishes (leaves also)

Be sure to provide some means of protection for when the weather is cold as budgies come from a warm place and are not hardy.

Is this outside or inside the house? If outside you need a shelter for rain and covers for the sides. If inside you need covers for night so the birds can sleep.

Also you need about 1 1/2 nest boxes per female so that they can choose. If you have 3 pairs you need 5 nest boxes to stop them fighting. Dont breed your budgies before they are 1 year old as egg binding can kill a young hen. Also dont allow them to carry on breeding clutch after clutch you may have to take out all the nest boxes to stop this. 2 clutches then at least a month rest only in summer.

You can make a rope swing with sisal or cotton rope. Put a cuttlefish bone and mineral block for them to help themselves.

It is a very nice aviary. You will have to sell or keep separate any babies to prevent inbreeding although the aviary will accomadate 10 birds or so.

Non poisonous branches can be taken from the garden if washed and sun dried really well. This prevents insects comming in with the branch.

Boy, what a super nice place you made for your birdies . I used to raise budgies !
If I were you I would NOT do anything to the area except perhaps put a nice big shallow bird bath on the right hand side maybe. Keep the area open so as not to block space for flight . No More branches and old wood that could be infested with bugs from outdoors.
Don't forget to feed them plenty of fresh greens such as carrot tops and millet spray.
Watch yourself as this hobby is addictive, before you know you have 50 birds and building more aviaries. LOL
Good luck and have fun

firstly i must say what a great thing to have an aviary. it looks well maintianed.
it looks like its outside. provide some kind of shade in one small corner. so they feel that area as their safety zone.
also if i were you i would not introduce some finch and conures..but also some hamsters or gerbils.

i have owned budgies and hamsters before and they have loved each others company..they steal each others food.. interact with and play tug of war with each other..
both the budgie and hamster are almost equivalent in intelligence and thats why can mentally stimulate each other.

Are you artistic or know of anyone who is? Paint a mural on the white wall behind it. Put a small tree in a pot in there, That way it'll still keep it's leaves. Ask at your pet shop which trees aren't poisonous though. My dad put one in his avairy for his finches. I put some plastic sheets on the front that can be rolled up during the day and rolled down at night and during bad weather.
