Keep telling yourself that you are a "NON SMOKER" .
Don't hang out with your friends that smoke (at least for a while, until you can handle it) This usually takes 3 weeks.
You can't tell me you like the taste. I just quit for the 3rd time, just before christmas last year. I know what you are going through. Especially the one in the morning with the coffee. I miss that one. But it is not good for you, and it will make your life alot longer. Stay motivated, and keep telling yourself "You are a NON SMOKER"

You have to make a solid decision, I am going to quit. I quit 12 years ago, here is how I did it. I messed around with the patch for about 2 years off and on, then when I finally made that all important decision I put one on in the morning, took it off that night and by the time I got up the next day I had over 24 hours under my belt without a cigarette. If you can go that long you can go the rest of your life. I handled it like this breath in slowly and deeply through your nose, exhale all air out of your lungs slowly through your mouth, do this a few times the urge goes away. keep your hands busy. Do crosswords, puzzles things like that. And remember if you think you can get away with having a drag or just a smoke cause you are feeling tense, it will not work. You are a drag away from a pack a day! Make that decision and then stick to it. If you walk by someone that just lit up, it is disgusting, the smell is on your clothes and skin. YUK! You can do it. I have faith in you. I was a 2 pack a day smoker. If I can do it anyone can. I am 53 years old now. Good luck sweetie!

Avoid frustration, that always helps for me.
at any rate, it's always important to know what type of smoker you are. Are you a social smoker, so smoking mostly with others? - Steer clear of people for a while and get your ducks in a row
A mentally addicted smoker? - Realize it's all in your head and you really don't feel bad at all if you don't smoke. It's strange, but your head can convince your body that you need something that actually you really don't need at all. Also, it's very important to think not like you'd be giving up something, but that you'd be gaining something instead.
Also, remember that smoking is not a goal in itself. It's usually a means to a certain end. Figure out what that end is and you'll probably have a fair idea of what to replace smoking with.

Good luck.

Throw away your ashtray, lighters, and everything else that makes you think of cigarettes, don't hang around people who smoke for a while. You may even have to take off work to do it. Go for a walk after every meal. If you like to smoke in bars, quit going.

My mom just quit smoking. She's made it for about two months now. She went to her doctor, and he gave her a pill. Chantex (sp?). It worked like a charm. She said there is still times when she wants a cigarette, but she's doing better. =]

And if that doesnt work, just thing of the song from that commercial. It goes:

You dont always die from tobacco
Sometimes you just lose a lung.
Oh, you dont always die from tobacco.
Sometimes they just snip out your tounge.
And you wont sing worth a heck,
with a big hole in your neck
No you dont always die from tobacco.

Use one of those nicotine patches like nicoderm cq, but it will take you a little time to get over, and the reason why you are having a hard time quitting cigs is because of the nicotine in them, duh.
