Yield to temptation. It may not pass your way again. - Heinlein
Seriously, though. Temptation is simply wanting to do something. If I see an ice cream, I may be tempted to get it. Whether I do or not depends on other things, like whether I'm on a diet or whether it may spoil my dinner.
Temptation is not a bad thing. It's good to want to do stuff. If you never wanted anything, it's a boring life. However, you have a brain, so you can figure out what things you hold off doing and what things you should do.
Religion likes to make believe that Satan is trying to get you to do stuff you shouldn't. No, it's just you wanting to do stuff. However, if religion can convince you that merely being tempted is wrong, it can get you to feel guilty whether you do something or not. It's a great way to get and keep converts, but it is a poor way to live life.
Don't feel guilty about being tempted to do something, but use your brain when it comes to actually doing it.

To do that, you'll have to be blind and deaf!
You cannot eliminate temptations because you don't make them happen. For instance, you did not create the Internet or the TV and neither can you stop them; you can't go about whipping girls that dress like prostitutes; and you can't stop the legislatures taking bribes from the lobbyists.
The right question would be 'how do you overcome temptations?' To this I will remind you that falling into temptation is so natural that it has happened to the first humans, prophets/preachers, and even Jehovah (successfully tempted to allow Satan ruin Job).
How do we overcome temptations? You cannot overcome ALL, but try your best to get 70% overcomed. It takes extraordinary discipline to achieve this, but if you do you're more than a SAINT.

While temptation will never be eliminated, you can make it dormant by repenting of your sin and accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior. Start reading the Bible start with the Gospel of John. Satan will come at you stronger than ever if you do these things and you may struggle but as you grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ the sin nature within you will eventually become less and less. Take practical steps as to stay away from situations that may tempt you.

Flush the law: the temptor witch causes evil concupiscence and makes ppl feel wretched. For God(His Grace) neither tempts nor can be tempted. So only those putting trust in law can be tempted.

A normal person can simply walk away from temptation. Those who can't do this become evangelicals.

Nietzsche says the only way to really rid yourself of tempatation is to give into it. Then the temptation is truly gone, even if temporarily. If you simply don't give in to tempation you aren't ridding yourself of it, just fighting it.
