Please only genuine, serious, and considered answers to help me understand.
I own several Muslim text books and copies of Islamic scripture and in them the prophets, angels, and ordinary Muslims are called "slaves of Allah". Islam means "to submit (to Allah)" and Muslims are the "slaves of Allah" your own books say this - I would very much like to know how Muslims really feel about this fact, and if you are happy and content to be regarded as a submissive slave by your god?
I've tried to imagine how I would feel in that position and it sent terrible chills through my blood and soul - personally I would not be able to live with this feeling.

I thank most of you VERY much for answering (obviously not the morons who are sick as usual). I reply to...
princessofpop1983 = I like your reply VERY much. Thank you. It's from your heart and has helped me a lot to understand.
Rami = Yes I absolutely know my own relationship with God and it is as His SERVANT, which is very different to SLAVE, plus I am His child because He is my Father in Heaven.
I am gaining such a valuable insight from this Q&A and I'm already understanding that how a non-Muslim person feels about 'slave' and 'submission' are VERY different to how a Muslim interprets these words. I'm grateful for your input on this difficult question.
RobertC - I won't justify myself to you. I don't hate Muslims - it's people like YOU I hate no matter what their religion is!

It's every difficult to answer this question without referring to the Agenda of Mohammad in his creation of Islam.
Suffice it be said that he didn't want to take any chances; so, he said that you are a "Slave of God" and thou shalt not Question the Truth of Islam, on pain of Death; nor shalt thou turn thy back upon the True Faith, also on pain of Death!?!?
I liked the allegory between the Moslems and the Knights!?!? Nice try, but no dime, buddy!?!?
Personally, I think the "Slave of Allah" is a dangerous Concept because it permits the Imams to Command the Faithful to do the "Will of Allah", which is, actually, the will of the Imam. This is why we have so many poor confused suicide bombers giving up their lives here and all these atrocities being committed in the name of Allah!
Islam was all about control and power right from it's inception and is, therefore, one thing that seriously needs to be reformed. Unfortunately, Mohammad already blocked any possible loophole by declaring death to the irtidad and death to those that questioned the "logic" of Islam!?!?

As a Muslim, I believe the word 'slave' is used in the broad sense. Sure, we are Allah's slave because we have to abide by the rules that He has laid down for us.
The dictionary defines the word slave as ... "One bound in servitude as the property of a person or household." This also means that the slave can not exercise much free will because he is the property of this master. He can't make decisions for himself, and can't do whatever wants. However, this is not the case with 'Muslim' slaves because humans in general, are allowed to excercise free will. That's why God created Heaven and Hell... because He gave us rules, and warned us of the consequences if we didn't obey them. God has given humans the power to make choices.
When you think about it, everyone has to submit to something 'higher', even athiests. They have to abide government laws, pay taxes, follow rules at work etc.
I'm really not bothered by the term 'slave'. I understand and happily accept the omnipotence of God and it's ok that I'm subserviant to Him. God, after all, is the One who gave me such a wonderfull life and everything.

Hello Artist V,
How do I feel about the fact my faith says I am and should be a slave to God? Makes no difference to me mentionally or on any other grounds. Why? Because we're all 'slaves' of a feeling, emotion, job, relationship...yadda yadda yadda.
Here's a prime example: "slave to the wage". You gotta work to pay ya bills. To be a good Muslim would mean to worship God at every given oppurtunity and be a good person too.
To me, its not about slavery as say being chained by a ball and chain to something. Some people choose to leave Islam as they feel this. I on the other hand have remained Muslim out of choice.
Hope that helps.

A slave is a person who obeys every command of the Master. In this sense, Muslims feel pride in this slavery if they follow Commandments and do not permit the elected legislatures to frame a Law which may be in contradiction of the Divine Master's explicit orders, as in the Holy Book, and as practiced by the Holy Prophet.

I am a reverted American Muslim woman. I am called a terrorist for being a Muslim. Western women think I'm oppressed and need to be liberated. I feel I am liberated already for being Muslim and wouldn't go back to Christianity which is the religion I left even for millions of dollars. Muslim men respect me for my mind not my body. I get strange looks for wearing hijab in public and yes I'll admit it does annoy me and makes me sad because these "free" women are lost and made to feel degraded everyday. I know I am a slave of ALLAH and this doesn't bother me at all. I enjoy praying 5 times a day and I enjoy the freedom Islam gives me as a woman. I am content to be one of several billion slaves of ALLAH and pray I will continue to believe in Islam and ALLAH until my dying day and eventually end up in Jinnah along with my husband, our children, and the rest of his family. It's hard to admit I'm a Muslim in USA and even my mother wants nothing to do with me and has even called me a terrorist for reverting to Islam which makes me sad as well but I have learned to deal with it. I have found truth in Islam and have found my reason for being here.

The word "Muslim" literally means "one who submits to God's Will", doing anything that makes God happy and pleased with one. We don't submit to men's will, for instance(not supposed to, at least); we submit only to God's Will.
Basically, God created us, and He has told us to worship Him the way He wants us to and to live by His Guidelines; however, we're still given free will--do whatever you want, but do remember the consequences for your actions/deeds.
For me, a Muslim, knowing that I'm God's slave and have to live by His Perfect Will, makes me feel very protected, loved, cared about. My Creator loves me enough to tell me to walk on a Certain Path, a Path He has chosen for me, and not just ANY Path, you know? He doesn't want me to feel lost and all. He has set Perfect Guidelines for us to live by because He knows what's good for us and what's bad for us and doesnt want us to make the wrong decisions; so why NOT live by them?
It's seeming to me that you have the wrong concept of "slave". Perhaps you're thinking of the western idea of slavery?...Where the slave isn't given the right to vote, to education, to marry with his will, and so on?....Nope. Islam isn't that way. Muslim parents are obligated to educate their children (males and females) equally as much as they can afford to do so; Muslim males AND females are given the right to vote (were given this right over 1400 years ago--to both males and females, not just males); both are given the right to marry whomever they wish whether others agree with their choice of marriage partner or not; and so on.
And being His slaves also means that this world belongs to God and no matter what you do or where you go, you can't escape from Him or His Existence, even if you deny His existence.
This could be interpreted in any way, but it doesn't indicate any negative meaning. Not to Muslims, at least, because they've no problem worshipping and following their Creator.
Peace and blessings be upon you and your loved ones!

These terrible chills through your blood and soul...? Really...?
Why are you hiding your real purpose in asking this question? Do you think anyone is fooled by this mock academic/considered act?
If you hate Muslims, at least have the moral courage to say it instead of hiding like a coward behind weasel words.

Slave of Allah means that we do what he tells us in this life and we will get the reward in the afterlife.
