does anyone feel that this encourages young people to become anorexic or is it a 'positive influence' in diet control in an age of increased obesity

i think it is highly ironic the amount of websites there are for young people who are obsessed with being thin in stark contrast with the amount there are for kids who just want to be normal sized.

it does encourage anorexia as it doesnt just get people to lose weight to get to a normal weight, it goes further. i dont think that it is positive influence, not even at a time where a huge proportion of the population are overweight. makers of pro ana websites argue that they help young people achieve their dreams of a 'perfect figure' and complete control over their weight, which in most cases, is the only form of control they have of their lives.

Pro-Ana sites glorify the lifestyles and habits of people with anorexia. That's the same thing as glorifying people who binge on whatever they want, whenever they want, and don't care how fat they get (think Fat Bastard). Neither lifestyle is healthy, so I don't think websites rejoicing in these behaviors are appropriate, especially for young people.

How many teenagers are there out there at any given time feeling miserable, out of place, and just looking for one person or group to understand them? What happens when they relate to the pain of someone else and hear that anorexia can help relieve their pain?

I don't think the websites encourage people to become anorexic, but I do think they pain a much prettier picture than what it really is. And it is in no way a form of diet control. It is a sickness, and one that can easily be caught if you are in a weak state of mind. It's almost gotten me before.

Anorexia has nothing to do with dieting it is to do with control..what I mean is anorexia is used by its sufferers as a form of control in there lives when they feel they have none. The web sites are a worry as they give tips on how to be a successful anorexic.Obesity is about too many people eating too much and not exercising enough ...a completely different issue!

Why be good at being fairly skinny once you're able to be good at maximum of alternative issues which many greater human beings appreciate? i'm specific you're in all probability particularly attrative appropriate now, or deffinately greater beautiful than an anorexic guy or woman...
