Take it one way or another.
1.) There is less of a probability of getting diseases from smokeless (about 1/4).
2.) The degree of harm the problems smokeless creates are far more severe than most smoking problems. Esophageal cancer has an average life expectancy of 18 months, while you can live with enphysema (not well, but you are still alive.)
So pick your poison.
There aren't effective non-tobacco cigarettes (even ones with other ingredients still contain tobacco). There are, however, effective herbal snuffs that don't contain tobacco or nicotine that can be used instead of smokeless tobacco. Try Hooch Snuff, it has the best mouthfeel like tobacco. You can get it online at http://www.hoochsnuff.com/

Probably, but as a recently reformed smoker (I smoked for 30 years) I would say this....if you don't smoke or use smokeless tobacco now.....don't start. If you smoke, and you are looking for a less harmful substitute, I don't think smokeless tobacco is the answer. Nicotine is nicotine, that is what you get addicted to. Today is the 43rd day for me quitting. I checked out the web when I did. Most sources agree that nicotine is purged from your system between 90 and 96 hours after you quit. What you want to do is get past that point. Not substitute smokeless tobacco (which will stain your teeth worse than smoking) or the patch or gum, all of which continue to put nicotine into your body. If you can't quit on guts ( which I think everyone is capable of) then perhaps you should try a hypnotist (at least you aren't adding any nicotine). I know I rambled, but I hope it was helpful.

NO WAY! It’s true that many people think smokeless tobacco (also known as chewing tobacco or snuff) isn’t as bad as cigarettes. One study quoted said that 77 percent of kids thought cigarette smoking was very harmful, but only 40 percent thought smokeless tobacco was harmful.
The truth is that smokeless tobacco use is connected with all sorts of problems. Smokeless tobacco can cause bleeding gums and sores of the mouth that never heal. Eventually you may end up with cancer of the tongue or salivary glands. Tobacco is tobacco: it all contains nicotine, and nicotine is very addictive! It stains your teeth a yellowish-brown color. It gives you bad breath. It can make you dizzy, give you the hiccups, even make you throw up.

if smoking cigarettes can give you Ca of the lungs, the smokeless tobacco can lead to Ca of the mouth and/or throat. Otherwise both are equally bad except that smoking cigarettes can affect others around you as well.

Is mouth cancer better than lung or throat cancer? None of it is safe...and it all can give you cancer....so it is best to stay away from it..and I did smokeless for 20 years before I quit...after finding pre cancerous lesions in my mouth. Maybe a little safer, but not safe.

Not only is it safer, but it tastes better, too! But when it comes to cigarettes, nothing ever beats the rich, smooth flavor of a Winston.

In whatever form, tobacco is not good for human health! It is a pity that such a plant has been in existence despite that knowledge!
