If I'm his creation and he is omniscient and omnipotent he would know in advance that I would use this brain he gave me to

- critically look at the available evidence
- evaluate all the world's beliefs
- use my reasoning and logic skills to be best of my ability
- come to the conclusion that he (and the other gods) don't exist
- that organised religion is origin myths gone wrong.

And this condemns me to an eternity in hell?

If that is truly the case, I not only don't believe in him, I reject him completely. That is not the way a loving parent would behave.

birdsflies: you should learn to understand what a hypothetical question is sometime. Think of it as "What if...", maybe that helps your rather simple brain process the question.

This is a very big flaw in Christianity for me, how good and righteous non-believers go to hell. Every time my Dad tries to "save" me so that I go to heaven I reply "Only if I will see Gandhi there". The only thing I can think of is either that Christianity is wrong, and all good people will be accepted, or that God isn't benevolent , which means in either case Christianity has gone wrong. I'm an atheist, but if i had to believe in a God, it would definitely be benevolent and accept all those who have lived a good life, although to me the 1st Testament portrays a fairly hostile and harsh God. Excellent question though.

Well you don't understand life then. Because religion deals with the greatest mystery of all and that is God. And since God is mysterious and created this universe in a mysterious and wondrous ways, that should have been your logical conclusion. All of life is a mystery and man is still in the process of discovering it. You should have logically concluded that man may never find the ultimate answer.

I know you don't believe in hell. But hell for me if I were you, would be the discomfort in uncertainty. I would not be satisfied with it. It would always nag me as a scientist in search for answers, what is the true answer? Not finding one before I died, would be hell enough for me. If you do not care about that answer and are content with living on this earth and just existing here; then to me you are no better than an animal. For an animal will not ponder if there is a God or if even needs one. An animal will not pray to God.

The evolution of man, which I do not believe in, has given man the ability to ponder this thought, which I think you do believe in. It is that thought that opens the door to religion, or to search and believe in religious truth. For man has the ability to believe and have faith. Man has the ability to extend that to mortal and immortal capacity; beyond even human life itself.

Man is a great and mysterious creature. Since God is inconceivable in your argument. Ponder the wonder and mystery of man.

I not only agree with you but I've had this similar discussion many times, but usually about Jesus rather than God, though Christians say he's one in the same.

We hear that Jesus is Love, but the person they talk about supposedly gets so upset if we don't believe his story (just because a book and stern adults tell us to) that he will send us to hell to burn for the rest of eternity? Wow, that doesn't sound like a very nice person to me. Sounds rather conceited and evil. If Jesus exists, no way is he as horrible as Christians make him out to be.

If God exists, no way in hell would he expect people to blindly follow any religion. Funny how some people think any religion other than there own is a cult. um.........yah

I am curious about how your evaluation and reasoning deals with the origins of life? It is just as possible that God exists as we do isn't? Spontaneous life generation is so improbable that total rejection of a creative power seem a denial of reason not an acceptance of it... I don't know if a few judgmental people have threatened you with hell.. That isn't there place!!! Instead I hold out reason to you and ask you to look into the clarity that in in Christ Jesus and except life through His work on your behalf... Jim

Look at it this way, if there is a god and all of us thinkers are going to hell, we will be smart enough to fix the place up, air condition it, and make frozen margaritas. It will be a hell of a lot better than heaven!

Seriously, I have the same problem with the teachings of christianity. If god is love he has a crazy way of showing it. By the way, isnt that quote "there is a way that seems right to a man... " the perfect way to cover god's a**?

It is strange how your kind of people try so hard to disprove God that you stick your own foot in your mouth. Yes God gave you a brain, it is a shame that you don't know how to use it, You have try to disprove God yet you ask why would God send you to hell, For the very purpose you said right here yourself, That you Reject God, & Now God rejects you into hell, Then you will know if God really exist. Hey Acid Zebra Reborn, I knew what a hpothetical question was, way before you were even born, Yes you did say what if, but you never say this is a hypothetical question, So I answer your question accordingly, And do you think I need your comments on how to read a question, No, What if you don't exist, Is that hypothetical qestion to ask, what if you don't exist. You are a pityful case, you need to learn how to ask your questions.

"Good" Christains and Muslims would be happy to get you as far as the afterlife for your point of view. Hell is a threat to get people in line and keep them there. It is used to make holy men (A.K.A. witch doctors) rich and keep them in control. Assume that there is no hell then look at the big religions. What do you see? Got it? Now where is the control?

Of course not, He won't send you to hell for using your brain. He likes it when people think! He IS that loving parent and by simply accepting Him you don't go to hell. He knows that people are easily confused and demand answers. I was once one of them but I've seen the signs of His love. All He asks is you accept Him. He is all about love and that's the kind of God He is. It wouldn't hurt to try finding Him would it? God does not condemn He gives us a choice to follow Him or to go your way. Chill and relax! I hope you come to accept Him in some way. It's not a burden, promise.:)

God want you to accept him with your whole heart..to accept him as your Lord and savior..and when you really do that..then you will not try and prove that no God's exist..you will try and get other people to believe in the one and only God. the one that can give you eternal life..
If you decide to reject him..then i doubt you will get to live forever in his kingdom.
But the person you should be asking this to is God..he can tell you where you are headed if you are willing to listen to him and take him seriously.
Goodluck.

You have proven yourself that no God exists so why should you speak of being condemned

'- come to the conclusion that he (and the other gods) don't exist
- And this condemns me to an eternity in hell'
