My 2 year old granddaughter is sick almost every day. She drinks on average 3 pints of full fat milk every day, eats very little and has projectile vomiting. She does have an allergy to Soya which is excluded from her diet but is still being sick. Could it be she is having too much milk?

A couple of things come to mind.

1. The projectile vomitting could be a result of lactose intolerance- Try a lactose free milk, and see if that changes.

2. She does not need that much milk- especially whole milk. If she is getting filled up on milk, she is not eating a balanced diet filled with vitamins, minerals, and adequate fiber. I would cut back on the milk to about 24oz., add a toddler approved multivitamin, and really get creative with other foods so she will eat them.

3. I would take her to the pediatrician to rule out any abdominal condition and get some nutritional advice.

That does seem an awful lot. Full fat milk is best for children but not if she's allergic. I'm surprised she's not been to a doctor already if she's being sick every day!! Especially projectile vomiting!!! No point asking here, you need medical advice.

Yes. Too much milk can cause anemia, because there is very little iron in milk. She also may be lactose intolerant or even allergic to milk altogether. Try to eliminate it from her diet for about 10 days. If you notice a change in her when you re-introduce it, most likely there's an allergy and you need to have her seen by a specialist. Good luck.

Milk today is different than the milk we used to drink. It is full of hormones that they give the cow to produce more milk. My son who is 5 now had a hard time with milk also it gave him diareah. I talked to my doctor, he was lactose intolerant. There a pleanty of other ways to get your calcium. Yougurt is better you can also make your own Almond Milk etc. Good luck.

milk is very very good for u but i think she needs to lay off the milk because if she is vomiting and is drinking 3 pints of milk in 1 day that's not healthy!!!!

She drinks that much milk everyday, no wonder shes not eatig...Sounds like she is lactose intolerant on top of it. Why haven't you taken her to the doctor? She is getting WAY too much milk, you need to at least cut back on the milk (yes she IS going to throw a fit)and you need to start getting other foods into her diet...this is just not healhty for her...

I would try to get her off the full fat milk, down to skim... she might be lactose intolerant... at 2 years old, she doesnt need the full fat of milk, as she should be getting it from foods now... also, maybe try to give her some yogurt everyday....

if shes lactose intolerant, it would explain the vomiting, also does she have diahrea? if so, does it stink like sulfur? thats another sign of lactose intolerance

She could also be lactose intolerant, if the vomiting is caused by the milk. How old is your granddaughter? Is she drinking milk because she's still on the bottle? If she is, have you considered formula? My brother used to have to drink goats milk - it's probably still available in your local deli.

at 2, she can have 2% milk. I usually give my daughter 2 small sippy cups a day of 2% milk. One when she gets up and one before bed. They will get their calcium in other forms. That is way too much milk!

She may have a lactose intolerance or some other stomach issue. She should see a doctor. No one should be vomiting like that every day.
