I'd like to know how I should go about investigating whether I could site a commercial Wind Farm on some Family Land just outside Glasgow. The land would appear suitable as far as I can see, but I wonder what the process is to start the ball rolling?

You need to carry out technical and financial feasibility studies and then if they are positive, start the development planning process. Retscreen International is an excellent website sponsored by the Canadian government that has loads of information and calculation sheets on the technical and financial aspects of renewable energy. If you don't have climatic data, they have links to help you find it. You will need the exact position of the site - but you can get that from Google Earth.

My guess would be to contact the Planning Department in your local authority (council).

I think it's a great idea, put up these wind turbines in moderation and harness renewable energy! Good on you.
