Well this is the same problem I am facing.
I am in Hong Kong and my "life" is in India. We can't be together this time. So I planned earlier and sent her 4 gifts which will be delivered on different times on same day.
And most importantly, I wrote a poem for her which I will sms to her on the last minute of valentines day.
Thanks for the question. I might get some more ideas here.

For me being with someone you love is always been a special thing, we dont need valentine to express our love for our partner make everyday valentines day for him! But if you really wanted to make it special, to be able to survive being apart on that special day call him, make him feel that he is very important to you!
