I think 4 pints of whole milk each day is excessive. As well as taking in all the calories and fat, you're taking in lots of protein, which will actually effect the way your body utilises its calcium intake. If you're going to drink a lot of milk, best to go for semi-skimmed. I have to tell you that when I was your age I too was slim; my weight never varied, although I had a very healthy appetite and ate whatever I fancied. I even went on a special diet to put weight ON! I ate three, three-course meals each day, as well as snacks, but didn't gain an ounce. In fact I didn't get any bigger until I reached what we call 'middle age' and even now I'm not exactly fat. Be happy at 10 stone; you'll probably gain some weight in a few years time and then spend time trying to keep it down! On the other hand, your metabolism may mean that you'll always be slim; be glad, because you have more chance of staying fitter and healthier than your fatter friends! (Also look at your family - you may have inherited your build from one of them).

Whole milk has about 4% fat - about 20 grams per pint, other than that it's a lot of water. It only has around 60 kCals per 100 mils which isn't much at all, less in fact than several fruits and vegetables.
If you want to gain weight it's advisable to stick to a healthy and well balanced diet but to eat more of everything. At the same time you need to exercise otherwise the excess food will simply be stored as fat, you're better off with more tissue and muscle.
There are dietary supplements but I'm not so sure that these are the best things for you.

How tall are you? If you are about 5' 5" then 10 stone is probably about right - but I suspect that you are taller!
My son was about the same weight as you at about the same age - and he is 6' 3". He ate well but just didn't gain the weight. If you are veggie then you probably aren't getting enough protein and need to eat more pulses. If you are a 'normal' eater then it is probably a good idea for you to eat more 'red meat.'
There are so many variations as to what you should be doing! What excercise do you take? Is this using up all of the calories that you are taking in? If you look at people like Geoff Capes, then I think that you will find he ate about six whole chickens a day! He needed this protein to build up muscle. (Sorry, but at the age of 20, doubt if you have ever heard of Geoff Capes!).
Don't do the junk food - it will just make you ill. Try wholesome foods and eat enough of them. Bread, potatoes, rice, pasta. Meats - steak, chicken, lamb - Oh, heck, just eat a good and balanced diet! It isn't a case of just 'putting on weight' it is a case of having a healthy body - and that comes from a healthy and balanced diet!
Look at some of these 'fad' diets that are going around at the moment. Slimmers World (or something similar) say that you should not eat protein and carbohydrate on the same day otherwise you will put on weight! So try eating meat and potatoes on the same day!
It is quite simple. If you take in more calories than you burn off, then you will put on weight. If you take in less calories than you burn off, then you will lose weight.
Don't forget, though, muscle weighs more than fat! Forget the weight thing, it is more important to feel good about yourself.

Whole milk and other full-fat dairy products (cheese, yogurt etc) will certainly put on weight over time...give it a couple weeks. Try soymilk too, if you can get the Silk or Whitewave flavoured soymilks. Soy is very nutritive-dense. Someone gave me quart and by drinking one glass a day I put on 2 lbs in a week.
To gain weight you need only consume over your energy output...100 calories a day is enough excess to cause a gradual gain. But if you've "always been skinny" I would guess you are very active and have a high metabolic rate. Trade you any time you like, I have a stone and a half you can have any day.

well milk is good for your bones so you would get heveier that way bcause they will become denser, I don't think drinking more than a pint will have a possitive affect you should also be drinking water as well, trust you're body does need it especialy it you begin weight lifting, to slow your metabolism down eat less meals but make them bigger in size so your body has to work harder, plus how tall are you if you weight 10 stone but are very skinny

I'm assuming your a bloke. You say you are twenty, you probably haven't quite finished growing yet. Blokes tend to fill out a bit in their mid twenties. Sometimes muscle and often fat. My guess is you are a wiry kind of bloke so you will be more muscular. So perhaps you have that to look forward to. Lucky you!
I would go to the Doctor and get some diet advice. Eat the right foods and work with the body you have.
Believe me when you are 30 and everyone else is fighting their beer bellies you'll be happier.

Dont listen to these dorks......what seems like you have high metabolism is you have problems to gain weight. You are talkin to a person that is in a same situation as you are and i drink lots of milk and still no show of weight gain......i eat plenty of food, more then men sitting next to me and still dont gain a pound. Its all time affected. Be happy that u dont have to say to any food right now because once you hit 24-26 your metabolism will slow down rapidly and thats when you going to have to sort what you eat. So relax, enjoy your meals, dont stress anything (because that is another factor why you still cant gain weight) and just wait. ;)

Yes whole milk will pack on the pounds, unless you have a extremely high metabolism, then it will take some time. take your whole milk blend it with some ice cream and fatten it up some more. If you can tolerate ensure plus supplements those drinks are full of vitamins and carbs. And are usually used for underweight people, it doesn't matter what age you are.

milk is an excellent source of calcium, my advice is to have a blood test done, it could be an over active thyroid. Milk alone will not put on weight. You have to eat a balanced diet of meat, fruit, dairy and vegetables. But before eating your way through it, go to the doctor, have that blood test for your thyroid.
