Should we allow Priests or Ministers and other such people around impressionable children?

Forget about the sexual abuse problems. We have all heard those stories of how Priests have used their leadership role, in some cases, to abuse children. But this is about another matter.Though that could play into our reasoning's as well.

Imagine the amount of influence they have to children.Or for that matter, imagine the amount of influence any adult can have on a child. If they told a child that the Tooth Fairy was real the child would believe. If they told a child the Easter Bunny was real the child would believe. If they told the child the boogey man was real the child would believe.

How can we allow people to fill the heads of children with such stories? Is this a recruitment campaign to prey on minds that are easily impressionable? Why should religion be introduced at an early age?Why not wait until the child is an adult and can examine the facts before deciding what to believe? Why let clergy help perpetuate beliefs on young minds to the point of almost being forced upon them?

The most important adults in a child's life are their parents. Aside from things like abuse, I think they can counter a lot influences the world throws at them. I think kids do need to learn the culture they are in, and that includes ministers - as well as tramps, politicians, lawyers and so forth.
