I recently got accepted to a graduate program. There are people I know in that program that are about to graduate. When I told them I got accepted, they look SO DISAPPOINTED as if I weren't fit to be in it. I am a nice guy and make good grades, so why do they look like they don't want me in their program. They don't even know me that well.

they look at me as if I were stupid. It's a look like "why were you even accepted?" They look like I shouldn't have even been accepted but like I said, they don't know me.

Obviously, acquaintances and not friends. You shouldn't even care what these people's reactions are as they seemingly don't care about you. Focus your time and efforts on people that matter, you'll be happier you did. Congratulations on getting in! Now spend your time there positively focused on school and making some new friends who are just starting the program too.

Obviously, you have not been flaunting your intelligence as many others do. It's good that you have provided your apparent critics with a wakeup call about judging others. As always, success is the best revenge.

People are weird. They don't want other people to get ahead if it might threaten them. Ignore them and move on.

Congratulations though. It's an honor that you were accepted.

What I think, I think you will not like. I think you expect them to act this way because you yourself are surprised you made it and this is your expected reaction to the news. Any reaction at all will be taken as a negative by you. Sorry but that's what I think...

They thought they were smarter than you, and they were disappointed to find out they are not. Don't spend much time thinking about it; you have more important things to do.

there are only a few things I can think of

- they were hoping for someone else
- you are not as nice as you think you are
- you misinterpreted their faces

Try getting one of them by him/herself and then gently ask what the issue might be.
