Are Christians saying that the above Prophets mentioned in the Qur'an are other Prophets who coincidentally have the same names as the Jewish and Christians Prophets? Muslims worship the same God as Christians, since Allah comes from the same root as the Hebrew words El, Eloh and Elohim. Many Christians argue that Muslims don't accept the true Jesus because they believe He was a Prophet. However, this is just a different interpretation. Christians accept that Jews pray to the same God, even though Jews interpret their scriptures differently, because they are still waiting for the Messiah. Islam just presents a different interpretation of the Bible, which is equally valid. There are two groups of Christians, Unitarian and Trinitarian Christians who also view Jesus differently.

Unitarian Christians believe there is one God and don't believe in the Trinity, which they believe is a false teaching. Trinitarian Christianity was influenced by Roman, Greek and Egyptian mythology, where they had trinitarian gods. The Christian God is the same as the Jewish God, in which case the anti-Islamic writer should actually read the events in the Old Testament.

As far as I'm aware one of the Ten Commandments is to only worship ONE God and not to worship false idols.

While, technically, you'd be lead to believe that, there's more than meets the eye, in Islam.
Islam was, unfortunately, a creation of a clever charlatan whose life was hardly that of a "Prophet" and his "Religion" was one created with the express Agenda of taking over the wealthy Ka'aba, Temple of the Moon God, al Lah.
You really need to know about Mohammad and the land of those days to understand why Mohammad did what he did and what's the Truth about Islam.
While the Bible is not also too clear, it's at least the Testament of real people who witnessed events and recorded them.
Mohammad was clearly creating fiction!?!?
End result, a confused "Religion" with totally confused followers who are borderline insanes due to the crap they've been fed for centuries!?!?
You can see that in their "Jihad" where they really don't have a clue as to why they're blowing themselves up!?!? I feel very sorry for them, because they're going to find no Heaven with 72 virgins waiting to serve them!?!? Just Hell, that Mohammad promised each and every Moslem was to to go through!!??
Yes, you're right about the Mosaic Law that the Jews should worship only one God and not any idol. If you're looking for equations that show similarities between the Jews and the Muslims, here are a few more for you.
"Allahu Akbar" and "La illah il illah" or there is no God but God are the Arabic version of the Jewish "Boruch es Adonai..." - Great is God, the only God...
Circumcision is the Jewish legacy taken by the Muslims. Kibot is a Jewish Custom called Hijab in Arabic. Muslims wear the yarmulke or skull caps which are a Jewish tradition as well as the shawl upon their shoulders to the back!? Kosher is what the Muslims call halaal!?!? The ban on pork etc, is a Jewish Custom!? Heck, almost all the Muslim Laws are Mosaic Tradition!?!?
Only, the Jews outgrew these things, and the Muslims embraced them!?!?
For crying out loud, Mohammad was Jew!?!? He was a beni al Quraish Jew!?!?

You need to read the story of the child that Abraham and the concubine had together. Hagar had the child Ishmael. God said that Isaac (Nation of Israel - Jacob his son is called Israel) and Ishmal (Muslim nation) are two brother's that would fight until the end of times. Here is what God said to Hagar:
"Arise, lift up the lad and hold him with your hand, for I will make him a great nation." (Muslim's) Gen. 21:18
Ismael was then called the son of the Bondswoman and Isaac was called the son of the Freewoman. The son of the Bondswoman would fight the son of the Freewoman throughout the Old and New Testament.
Here is the answer: Ismael and Hagar left Abraham's side while Ismael was very young. The teachings that Hagar passed down to Ismael would have stopped right there since she would have not been around Isaac's family after Abraham had died. This is where the Qur'an picks up and continues with what happened from Ismael and Hagar's seperation to the end of the Qur'an. In the beginning of both the Qur'an and the Christian Bible we do worship the same God. Since the time of the seperation of Ismael from his father Abraham, God's character has not been revealed as being the same as the Christian Bible. There is not the story of Eziekiel which is the telling of the coming and second coming of Christ in the Quran. Therefore many Christians do not consider that they are worshipping the same God as the Muslims. Also, remember that in the Christian Bible Moses slayed the lamb in place of his son. His son is the representation of Christ (The Son Of God) being slain on the cross. This is a foretelling of what was to come. The Muslims do not tell this story. Another fact is that if Abraham's wife Sarai was pretending to be his sister she would have had her head removed by Muslim tradition. Does the Quran say that her head was removed? God never permitts men to treat women like this even before Ishmael. If that were the case Eve would have had her head removed for disobeying God and Adam, the great Muslim, would have never eaten the fruit she gave to him. Therefore their is a huge difference between these two groups who believe in God.

You are quite correct in stating that there is only one God, whether you call Him Allah, El, Eloh, Elohim or even YHWH. God does not have a personal name. To believe that would be to limit Him. God is beyond names and names are only human conceptions which are befitting of creatures like unto ourselves. Therefore, I beg to differ from those answerers who claim that God's personal name is YHWH. Do you think that peoples on other worlds also call Him YHWH? What if they cannot even pronounce those sounds? God is manifest also unto realms where language is not used.
Jesus worshipped Allah (i.e. God) and His pronunciation of that word was very similar to the Classical Arabic word. To claim that they are two different gods is to betray one's own prejudicial attitude in the matter.
True Muslims are the true followers of Jesus Christ, just as true Christians are the true followers of Moses. Every Messenger of God makes a Covenant with His followers to follow and recognize the Messenger that is to come. Moses promised the advent of the Messiah Jesus and Jesus promised the advent of the Comforter (Muhammad) and Muhammad likewise promised the advent of the Bab and Baha'u'llah. This process is endless.

Trinitarians are polytheists and are infidels. They claim they worship a single God, but they are liars. Unitarians are still infodels; as they refuse to recognize the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), nor do they believe in the Koran, so they are non-Muslims.
Please brother, do not try to closen the gap between Muslims and Christians; for the fact is that it is a very very big gap. Muslims are true believers while Christians are infidels. They have been cursed by Allah and by his great prophets (PBUT). They have very little in common with us. Along with the Jews, they are to have a special treatment by Muslims in this earthly life; yet they are the same as the remaining infidels in the Afterlife; as all of them shall immortalize in the permanent torture of Hellfire.

you forget to mention YHWH. Though there are several names for which God is described, El = "god", Elohim = "god or gods" and many adjectives would be attached to "El" to amplify one of God's characteristics which was needed by the historical audience (i.e. El Shaddai, "the Mighy/Warrior God" to those held in Egypt), the true personal name of the God of the Old Testament was YHWH, a name that is truly unpronounceable to the Jew. It was a holy name, that Jews would not even try to pronounce...they would not pronounce "YHWH", but would instead say "Adonai" which means "Lord." To this day, in modern tranlations, when you see the word "LORD" in all caps, you know that it is the covenant personal name of God, YHWH.
Several points could be made here in regards to your question, and I'll expound on a few. The Muslims have no problem uttering the name of God as "Allah" which of course means "God" in their language. Orthodox Jews consider the very name of God to be holy and even hyphenate the name so they will not spell it out "G-D". This honors the name but does not even pronounce a translation of it! So I would say that the name itself insinuates that the Jews show more reverence to their god than do Muslims. Also, the name YHWH is taken from the verb "to be" (and for those who know Hebrew, it might be a causative hiphil "causing to be/exist"). It implies that he is the creator and sustainer of all that is, which was saying alot in a polytheistic ancient world. [Please note also, that St. Paul saw Christ in the same light: Colossians 1:13-19]
Comparatively, the god of the Muslim is not the God of the Jews or Christians simply because their personalities and commands to their peoples differ greatly. The modes of salvation differ greatly. Instructions on spiritual wellbeing differ greatly. General physical morality (how do I treat my neighbor?) differs greatly. Dietary laws, differ greatly.
You say that the same commands are merely interpreted differently, but that is not the case. The scriptures are different and in some cases, diametrically opposed. This is not an interpretation problem, this is a source and text problem.
Therefore, someone is lying.
I would say that Christians and Jews worship the same God, because His character remains intact from Old to New Testament. In Jeremiah, God said that he would initiate a new covenant...and the Christians believe that it arrived in Christ.

Padwin learner says "core to the Christian belief"
Well miss, how can you be core to the christian belief when the modern bible has been corrupted by kings and popes? The Holy Quran has not been changed once since the prophet muhammad(pbuh). As for that question, Christians and non-muslims do not do further study to see that our good is the same as theirs.

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
When Jesus was baptized, God spoke from the heavens saying, " this is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased".
Mark 1:11
Islam does not accept that Jesus is the Son of God.
Islam teaches Mohammad is the way to Allah, paradise.
So therefore we do not worship the same God. They have made a god for themselves. We worship God the Creator of heaven and earth, the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And incidentally, Christians worship the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob.
Exodus 3:6
Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”
John 10:27
(Jesus says)My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

Of course there are some things they have in common. A man does not climb to the top of a ladder to pray, but gets down on his face, approaching the presence of God with proper humility and respect. The lower the better.

Ignorance. Most Christians have not read the Qur'an and therefore have no understanding of it. Many Christians also don't realize that in the original versions of the Old Testament, that "their God" is actually referred to as Allah.

Muslims do not worship the Trinity - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. They don't believe that Jesus was God. We worship Jesus (along with the Father and the Holy Spirit). Do Muslims worship Jesus? Of course not, they think that He was a prophet. We believe that Muhammad was a false prophet and his teachings are wrong and lead many astray. I'm sorry for being so blunt, but this is core to the Christian belief - there is no God except our God, a three-fold God - a God with three persons, one God.
