Well it is of course not true. You will find that about 10% of all populations are gay. (Unless of course it is the population at a gay event, in which case it will be much higher). I see all religions say very rude things on here to each other. Atheists are not excused from this, nor are they the only ones. I have yet to see any of them say somebody is going to hell, except maybe as a joke. And they do tend to not see homosexuality as wrong. People who believe it is wrong base it on religious feelings, Atheists have no religion so why would they see it was wrong.
Your question is just plain silly. Please consider thinking next time before you post.

On the contrary. Most Gay people I've met (and I've met a lot, I went to an art heavy high school, lol) are Christians, or some permutation thereof. And I've never met a gay atheist. I think atheists just tend to be a little more outspoken, and not afraid to call an ignorant hatemonger what they are. (Just to clarify, I'm neither gay nor atheistic) I have no respect for ANYONE who can call a whole subculture of people "evil" because they fear them, or they are different. The last time someone decided there shouldn't be any "different people" there was a holocaust. Please remember that before you bash someone for being different.

I don't see why one would be related to the other. Most people I see defending gay rights don't jump up and say "and, of course, I'm an atheist" any more than people defending rights of a particular race would add "and, of course, I'm short!"
I also haven't seen any atheist talk about going to hell. Who'd send them there?
I think equal rights for ALL are what Jefferson meant when he wrote that we have the right to the "pursuit of happiness". How can you be happy and oppressed or repressed?
And, by the way, I'm straight and Jewish. :)

Id say the religious fundamentalist ignorance expressed towards homosexuality would definitively tend to lead them to avoid organized religions. If a group of people hate you for being what you are you will tend to avoid anything resembling their beliefs.

You've got it wrong. Atheists don't have a preset moral compass and therefore are able to think issues through rationally.
